2008 banshee

Recommended Posts

The 08 Banshee is on the cover of Dirt wheels magazine I just bought the mag on Sat . I have not had a chance to read the article on it yet.

Thats a picture dirt wheels made up to best describe what some "source" that doesnt work for yamaha described to them.

I wish they would make a bike like that. I would like to see a twin cylinder 4 stroke sport quad on the market. Thats my biggest heartburn with YFZ450's they feel like your riding a suped up lawn tractor. You can feel the cylinder fire every time.. They just don't feel like a dirt bike to me. I have a Bruteforce 650sra and its a much smoother running engine due to the V twin. It acutally surprises me all the time with how fast it is. I raced my neighbors Predator 500. I pulled like 5 bikes on him off the line of course but even at 200' I still had a bike or two on him. Don't get me wrong, he would have won, but it surprised me how much that old Brute can get up an go.

See the thing with DIRTWHEELS is that every April issue since 02 they always Photo-Shop something up and say is a new model "suposedly" coming out like when they did it for the first time in 02 i remember it was a "Honda 750EX" just stupid stuff to make you think, 4-stroke an the word Banshee shouldnt be used together when I first seen it when DIRTWHEELS came in the mail a few weeks ago it kinda insulted me because they had the nerve to use the S.E. colors on it an the fact that its a 4-stroke an they wanted to call it a Banshee.

I think just my opinion though that when Yamaha quit making the Banshee its replacements were the

YFZ-450 & Raptor 700R, I know slow replacements huh.

I say this because I traded off my fully modded out YFZ-450 for a new Banshee I havent looked back since even though my Banshee is stock "just for now" its pretty fast an quick and honestly I really dont miss my YFZ-450 either.

Just my opinion.

I read the article and it said the earliest release would be 08 but they are still playing with motors. They said it will be "trick, tricker, or the trickest".

I think the power would be awesome with a 500cc twin. Especially with a wild cam. Ah, but it wont be the same not mixing gas. And the smell...............

A freind of mine called me when he saw the article and told me all about it. The motor is supposed to be half of an R1. They are playing with 3 power levels, the highest I think will be 80 out of the box with the potential for a lot more. R1's make 175 hp or somewhere there abouts. The suspension will finally be upgraded like the raptors and it will ne injected. I love my banshee but I also like the what they are doing with this. If they do make it and its badd ass this is what people will be saying. The only 4 stroke that can give us banshees hell is a 4 stroke banshee. That statement doent include you crazy dragster types of course. CC for CC a 2 stroke will always have more potential for power. Also the extra cylinder might make it heavy enough to counter the extra HP and make it handle bad. SSL
