theshee
Alright I just want to make sure Im not missing something. My banshee is only running on one cylinder. It will run on both for a second or two, then quit and back and forth. I think its the coil or a bad plug wire but could it be something else? It is all a brand new rebuilt cub so I know its not a top end or anything, it only been riden about 200 yards. Is this the coil, plug wire or what? The easiest way to sort that out is swap the plug wires wide to side and install brand new plugs to rule that out. You plugs wires can be installed either of two ways. If your problem does not follow your suspected wire, I would lean on the carb. Very common, do a detailed carb clean and balance the carbs. When the carbs are off, you should look at and feel the reeds to make sure you do not have a split reed or something of that nature. Just sounds like a carb but I am not there either. The way the coils are made, if you have spark only on one side, it is either the plug cap or wire. I have installed countless plug caps. theshee
I am thinking it has to be the wires or coil. The carbs are brand new and just syncernized, and the reeds are brand new too. I will see if a new coil and plug wires fixed it.

I just think you might have something like a coild wire that needs re-terminated or something simple. I am saying this because if one side is strong, that kinda leaves wires and plugs and thats it. the simple swap I mentioned above would find this fast. Could save you some coin in a new coil. Unclip those wires from the coil and see if the cores are rusty. Just chop .25in off and reterminate and you are all set. Brandon

I would give you the old one, but If I can get it working I will hang on to it for a spare. I already got a new one so I will use the old for a take along. Everything else is new on the bike so I figured what the hell, may as well change that too... thanks for the advice!
dajogejr
If you haven't already, invest in a new igntion. When I built my 4 mil last year, I got a Nology w/ hotwires and a Dyna.... With all the money I spent on the motor, why save a few hundred with the ignition? I've got a Nology w/ wires to test with should you need it... jimbo
 Thanks for the post. Mine started running on one cylinder, firing and mis-firing. I swapped wires like you guys say and the cylinder fired right up. Turnrd out to be the cap on the spark plug wire not seating properly. Thanks again !!! theshee
I figured my problem out today... One thing, the plug wires were rusty and not making a good connection, since it was running, quiting, running quiting and so, I figured I would check everything else out. The fuel T was at too steep of an angle and the one carb wasnt getting enough fuel to run all the way. I got it all fixed today.
