FireHead
NYUK is wright on this one. Carbon build up is as hard as diamond. It's tuff to get out. Sandblasting is the only way. Just don't stay in their to long with the nozzle. Chemicals won't do it. Tape up the flange with layers of duck tape & put a blanket over the pipe & go for it. I switched my premix over to MOTUL you won't get that build up. It burns super clean. There are several things wrong with what was sstated there. Not only is sand blasting not the only way to decoke and expansion chamber, it's not even the best way to do it. Sand blasting carries with it many of the same problems as the torch methods I described with the additon of the fact that you probably will not be able to bring sand or media to bear on many parts of the chamber. Using Motul is not an effective way to prevent coking of an evhaust system. While it may coke the system less than a castor based oil, but it will still coke the exhaust just as bad in the long run.

Before i was using 927 When the bike was stock huge amounts of carbon builed up the first year that I bought the bike. It was choking the pipe. When I pulled the motor to send it out to trinity the pipes were on their for about three years using moltul. Their was no carbon builed up what so ever using Moltul. I'm sold. To get the carbon out using 927 I've tried everything under the sun even paint remover would't touch it. This what I like about trinity's stainless steel pipes. Even tried easy-off baking fuild. We have a huge snap-on sand blaster cabinet at work using media not sand I cleaned these pipes once since I bought these pipes in 1998 using the sandblaster methed. I'm on my third motor with these pipes. I just got motor back from jeff last year looked at the pipes still clean before putting them back on. Every time I pull the pipes I check it. Believe it or not their still clean to my satisfaction. So I'm a firm believer on what oils you use. This stuff burns clean.

I wasn't saying that Motul wasn't good oil, I just wanted to make sure that no one thought that it completely eliminated coking. Any natural castor based oil will create alot more carbon-carbon deposits than a synthetic oil will.

Rodneya
Carbon tetrachloride will dissolve the carbon. Not sure if you can still buy it though.
