400rednEX Posted March 15, 2007 Report Share Posted March 15, 2007 i hear about modifying your intakes when you put in v force 3's, but do you have to do anything when you have the trinity single carb and switch to v forces? i have fmf ram valves now and i assume the opinion is it's worth switching to v forces? would spacers between the intake and the reed blocks help with the sharp turn into the reed blocks? I know on a dual carb setup they far outperform the stock cages. Now, I have heard arguments about whether or not they outdo modded cages with TDR reeds, but they will definitely outdo stock cages. The modding you hear about with the stock dual carb setup is that you have to cut a tab off of the intake boots. VForce 3 reeds aslo have a round hole that is desigend to match up to the stock round carb boots. Your trinity intake has a big opean square right? Cascade sells what they call a reed stuffer. That makes the opeaing of the VForce 3 reeds a big square instead of a small round hole. That would be the best mod to improve flow. You can see by the pic how much better it would be for your 2:1 carb. You could also try reed spacers but they are really designed to go between the cylinder and the reed block, not the reed block and carb intake. If you put it inbetween the reed and intake, then the intake doesnt have a smooth flow and they would hurt perfromance more than help. Here a pic and a link. 400rednEX Posted March 15, 2007 Author Report Share Posted March 15, 2007 yes, the single carb intake has big squared ports so it looks like the stuffers would be just the ticket, thanks. hopefully the o rings in the intake will still line up with a flat surface to seal to. has anyone switched from ram valves to v forces and seen a gain?
