chris1992
.... ok so i was riding right... and i have an old 89 banshee thats in.. less then considerable condition... ( the pistions had 35 psi in each when i got it ) and the carbs are the original ones. So i notice when im riding i lost all my powerband at the bottom end but once it hit the high rpm's it was fine so we deduced it was the float stuck. So were just kinda sitting there letting it idle, watching it spit the unignited gas out the exaust, when all of a sudden the thing starts SCREAMING in so high rpm it was rediculas. ( not achiveable by hitting the throttle in all the way O.O) so were like oh shit, kill it! hit the killswitch, IT DOESNT STOP. were like.. uh oh. So then.. were trying to figure out how to stop it when we say **** it, and disconnect the spark plug connecters. And heres where it almost happened. IT DIDNT STOP AFTER WE DISCONNECTED THE SPARK PLUG CONNECTORS. SO NOW W HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO, its screeming like crazy with no way to stop it, all of a sudden it goes BOOM! and shoots fire from the pipes from the unignited gas in the pipe, blows a hole in my expansion chamber, and dies. so after this we were like.... WOAH. And thats what happens when carb problems go bad so for the sake of your quad, check ur carbs every time before u go riding. Or that^ could happen P.S.- after we waited for a few minutes cause we were all freaked out, we started it up and works great again. (minus the hole in my expansion chamber:/)

chris1992
it didnt stick, it was pouring gas into the motor at an uncotorlable rate which caused well... u know and whar freaked us out was it didnt stop cause we disconnected the spark plug connecters. that was freaky Edited March 12, 2007 by chris1992
Capone
List your mods because actually... it sounds like a problem I had myself. When it was screaming it doesn't sound like the normal type of engine fire does it? Sounds almost like a buzz? You're running off too low of octane fuel. Either you've raised the compression somehow, or just used a low grade of fuel. What ever fuel you used use a higher octane. Sounds to me as if your banshee is "dieseling" or "detonating" which is running off of pure compression even with no spark. Capone
Here's my old thread: http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...&hl=Running make sure you take head off and check tops of pistons for holes. Btw, my post was a few years back, I didn't know nearly what I do today ';'! Edited March 12, 2007 by Capone
bansheecowboy
so i have a dumb ? for you instead of pulling off the spark plug boots why didnt you just shut off the gas vavle. to me that would have made more sense because then it would have died no matter what no fuel not fire. compression cause "spark" so to kill it for sure you would have need to get the fuel out of it. just my .02 worth
nicktoney
my buddy had a blaster... this happened to him while riding due to bad jetting and such... his sparkplug actually was soooo hot i guess that it was glowing bright red and acting to ignite the cyl. to keep it running with the wire off the plug... idk if that was the case, but he ripped it out and the plug was glowing... hahahaha... weird things... too_fazt
hell the same thing happended to me, except instead of it popping my radiator hose shreaded and started shooting water all over the place. since it was right under the gas tank i thought it was gas and started running like a mad man thinking that shyt was gona BLOWWW UPP...then the gas finally ran out (i had turned it off) it killed and it started up after i reconnected everything but my left cylinder is acting really funky. gona check it out sometime this week and see what the deal is.. bansheesmoke
Would still have run for a while from the fuel in the bowls. hahaha I had this happen to me once. It ran out of gas and leaned it out. Hit the kill switch and didnt do anything. I was freakin out. I tried lockin up the back brake and dumpin the clutch. But no luck so I shut the gas off and then a few seconds later it shut off. But it was reved all the way. Past WOT. You sure you didnt run out of gas or get a clogged line?
