Just got the 06

Recommended Posts

Ive been researching on this site and ive made a few topics and even received help on my topics and nows the finishing touch. Im making a trail bike that I want to be pretty fast and ive come to the conclusion on what I need.(for the most part) I will be jumping a lot to so take that into consideration. Heres a list of the mods I understand and I do.

The Do's:

T5's/Nerf Bars/Reeds/A-Arms/Handlebars/Shocks (Order is insignificant)

The I Don't Knows:

Chain in sprocket(should i go accel or top end?) From expeirence banshees have alot of accel

Timing Plate(i never understood where to buy and what to do after purchase)

Swing Arm(since im a trailer and i jump alot how much + in length?)

EDIT:

And i was told this

port your stockers and add a 4mil crank ...and maybe some 28-30 PWK carbs...mill your head

That sentence confuses me a little can somone help me with that and what about having your heads?

Last thing i read to get Noss heads?

You should start off by making a post in one color. It's hard to read like that.

He is saying to get your stock cyclinders ported, add a 4mill stroker crank, add bigger carbs 28-30

(PWK is a brand) and have your stock head shaved down 30 thousnds

60 thou is a little much... your squish is going to be too tight if you just deck the head 60 thou... 20 or 30 and you should still be able to run pump gas...

the timing plate goes under you stator so you have to remove the flywheel and stator... mount the stator to th new plate and bolt it back up... and timing plate you can set to advance the timing or retard it... advanceing it give you more bottom end and retarding it more top...

and the PWK is a model carb by Keihin sp?

I would also recommend a single carb setup as opposed to larger duals for trail riding. Trinity Racing i think is the only company that still makes them, or you make the manifold if you're mechanically inclined. It makes a huge improvement on low to mid range response and power and no loss in top end vs. the stock carbs on ported cylinders. See if you can find someone your area with one installed to take a test ride. Maybe some other members with single carbs will chime in with thier thoughts. For chain, you can never go wrong with a 520 O or X-Ring. You might as well wait till the stock one wears out first though. Try one tooth lower and then two teeth lower on the sprocket on the engine to find a good balance between speed and acceleration for the terrain you ride in.
