transmission oil blow by

I am at a loss as to why the Banshee a friend just bought is blowing transmission oil out of the vent hose. This thing dumps quite alot of fluid out all over everythign when you ride it. I removed the clutch over tonight and inspected everything inside, crank seal looks good, the vent hoses are not plugged, and nothing is apparent to why it would have been doing so. I also re routed the hose back to where it should have been and of course it has new trans oil now, but it was too late to ride it without pissing off the neighbors so I only hope this fixed it. If anyone has had this problem or have a solution I would appreciate the help.

You really only have two possibilities for a cause of this problem:

1.) The cranks seal is not good.

2.) What ever was used for a gasket between the upper and lower case halves is no longer sealing.

i agree , i had the same problem , you should do a leak down test , that will tell you right a way , mine would piss oil out of the hose , it ended up being a bad spot in the cases behind the crank. had to split the cases but it was fixed.

it will come out until the oil level is correct , so if you put the correct oil level in and it still pisses out you know the crank case is getting pressurized and its a bad seal

To add a bit more: If you are using a ridiculously heavy weight oil you may also have a problem even if the oil level is correct to begine with.

ya the vent lines were routed pretty weird, someone just brung them to the outside to clear the boost bottle I guess, but I fixed that last night, with my friend just buying it we had no clue what oil was used so it got changed and belray put in when the clutch cover was taken off for inspection. I am kinda hopefull it will be fixed now, but if its nto I guess I will pull the motor and slpit cases, drop in some crank seals and get it together again so it will make it to little sahara sat with the rest of us. Guess thats what I get for having friends that dont know much about working on stuff :yelrotflmao:

My vent line routing situation that caused me problems had to do with running the lines straight out of the case and down. Between the lockup clutch assembly and the use of some heavy oil, I never gave the oil a chance to de-gas and thus it was pumping itself out the lines. Of course, it only did it when the engine was hot to further compound the problem. It took me a couple iterations before I sorted out what was going on.
