lowering the rear

I just saw that elka has a rear linkage for the shee, and they claim it increases the travel an inch or two and lowers the rear the same amount.

You have to use their shock with the linkage and it increase travel without changing the ride height much. It really doesn't lower it.

If you want to lower the back then you either need a different shock or a different length spring as long as you are lowering the bike just a little bit.

I made an assumption he was getting a new shock being he bought long travel fronts. I have elka fronts and I'm going with it in the rear along with their dual linkage, and this is their claim:

Elka Banshee Dual linkage (advertisement)

- boosts rear wheel travel from 9.7 to 11.25

- smoother stroke

- lower ride height without losing ground clearence

- easier to fine tune

- comes with aluminum skidplate

- and other marketing garble.

Who am I to argue with Elka

I keyed in him just wanting to lower it. I think any difference you may see from the Elka link system may be neglibable (IMO).

Get an 99-02 R6 rear shock off eBay. I got mine for $50. It's 12" eye to eye. They bolt right up. You have to drill the top shock hole out just a smidge though for the bolt to fit but it works. And you have to swap out the spacers from the bottom hole as well. Lowers it quite a bit plus it's a damn good shock. That would work great if you are asphault draggin'.
