Bansh88
I wouldn't think about riding without boots. Foot/lower leg injuries are very common and pretty fucking bad. Boots will take a while to get used to. Just keep them on. Few hours ride time is all it will take. Some boots have taller toes and you may need to raise the shifter 1 click. Don't raise it unless you really need to. I wear cheap Thors.

bansh03
Yes, just take some time and break them in. You won't regret it after a nasty crash.
The Faster Cracker
i have a set of beriks that i freagin love. i have bad bad ankles from football and i can tell a diffrence when i wear them. then again it might just be my mind playing tricks on me, but i do feel a lil more confident than wiht jsut tennis shoes. i had to move my shifter up quite a bit since it has a tall toe on it but you might be able to use the side of the sole to shift if it will work for you. thats what i did wiht my first set of boots. the only problem i have wiht them si that for my riding style i always have a hard time shifting (read: not letting the shift lever all the way down now) other than that get them and use them religously

trueraiderfan
I wear them and I had to raise my shifter cause I could not shift worth a crap the way it was. I lifted it one notch and it shifts just fine now. But they help me out alot because when i jump alot my ankles start to hurt. After I started wearing my boots they didnt hurt anymore. Thats why I really like them
differentstrokes
Just wear them riding for a few hours and they'll be good to go, but sometimes it also depends on the brand. Luckily my fox forma's were really easy to break in and they've lasted two seasons with minimal wear. Some of the entry level boots are kind of stiff at first, so it may take longer to get them were you want. If they're really stiff, try push mowing the grass in them on a warm day... I swear it works. Edited February 20, 2007 by differentstrokes

I swear it works. I've got the Fox Forma Pros as well and love them. They have saved my ankles and afew times when I overshot a jump and landed on the flats on my dirtbike. if I had not had them on I would've been in 2 casts...one on each ankle and in a wheel chair...I will never ride without them...then again that's just personal preferance... kaotik1
I wear alpinestar vectors, by far the most comfortable boot I have worn. The only time I dont wear them is on my pit bike.
blaster668
I've had a pair of Alpinestar tech 8's for quite a few yrs. You can break the boots in a little quicker by getting them soaking wet and walking around for a while. I'm thinking about getting a pair of the new 50/50 boots by Thor. Here is a link to them, they look great for normal riding. http://www.motoworldracing.com/thor-07-50-50-boot.html
