I would venture to say that they may be the best reed system for a stock style application. I am sure folks will disagree with me on this, as it seems they always do. I've ran them for 3 years now on rejetted stocker carbs. I used them mainly in my XC racing and the low end torque was phenominal compared to the stock reeds. I almost NEVER used 1st gear as it was extremely torque and after 2 hours on a quad would try to jerk it out of my hands. I'm rebuilding the motor right now and I'm putting on a 2 into 1 34 mm Keihin PJ and I'll let you guys know what I do next. I know the reeds are getting old and its about time to replace them so if they seem to run good I'll get another set and if I'm adventurous I'll go for the VF3's. I'll give some feedback when I do.
bigboybanshee
If they're the boyeson rad valves then for $75 you're getting a great deal. If they're the boyeson two stage reeds then you might want to look elsewhere. I picked mine up (the two stage) for 60 bucks from the Yamaha dealer. I do like the reeds though, for a slightly molested banshee they definitely get the job done.

If we were just talking about replacement reeds for $75, then that's not such a great deal.

06BaNsHeE
The guy you raced must not no how to drive!!!!!For me I went from those 40 dollar boyesen reeds to the VF3s and had more throttle response. If you have the money go with the VF3s.
06BaNsHeE
If boyesen are so much better than vforces why dont all builders run them?Im not starting anything im just curious.
Kama
Another thing you might want to consider(althought some wont agree with me), is what your aftermarket pipes are suggested to run with. Mine (DMC Aliens) suggested the boyeson reeds and they work great. I just forgot to mention that above.
FireHead
If boyesen are so much better than vforces why dont all builders run them?Im not starting anything im just curious. Preference, and the fact that Boyesen RAD valves don't work with many aftermarket intake manifolds. From my personal expeience, I have got more usable power out of the RAD valves on all of my motors except for the one that is currently in in my red bike. I have visited both companies and there is certainly better quality control and development at Dag Boyesen's facility. You may notice that alot of the bigger motor builder's use VF2's and not VF3's. It really comes down to what a builder can make work and sell.
pokeatyou2
i have a boyesen dual stage power reeds on my stock cages i did notice better throttle response but if i had the money i would buy v-force 3s
raptorooster
I have personally ran Boyesen, Pyramid and VF3's and still prefer the VF3's, they are just a nice part all around, crisp and responsive, nothing bad to say about Boyesen, they are a great bang for the buck, much better than the stock ones anyways, and as far as the Pyramid reeds go I honestly could not tell a difference between those and Boyesen on stock ported cages, Just my 2 cents!! banshee dave
I don't know about the boyesen reeds because I went from stockers into vforce3s. I love them. The only thing I had to do to mine was port match them to my aftermarket intakes. After that, holy cow the throttle responce was there. I can't wait till I get my exhaust fixed up right and get a chance to see how it runs.
