hollisatp Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 any gains to be had by switching my single k'n filter for the dual ones that clamp to the carbs directly? I was going to buy them but now I am thinking about moding my air box like above. I would just need to buy the outerware.. Quote

(atleast nothing you would notice power wise) Quote
FireHead Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 Cool^^^ does anybody on here run dual foam filters? I am going to be purchasing a pair of dual UNI filters some time in the near future. I am interested to see if they have a longer service interval than the K&N's do in the sand. Quote

(atleast nothing you would notice power wise) Actually...there's no stress on the rubber intakes because in Jim's setup...he is still using the factory nubs for the airbox...the weight rests on them..(Seen it in person) However....I'll still run Dual K&Ns....I think it's a much nicer and cleaner looking setup personally!!! Jim is JMkampala.... in HIS particular setup, where he hacked the the sides and bottom of the airbox off....he's actually using the front portion of the stock airbox, and is keeping the little guides that slide onto the nubs. He has pictures on page 1 posted already... Sorry to confuse.... Quote

I have admired a setup like what is pictured above, but I can't bring myself to try it (I am not sure I have been in possesion of an air box for several years). Quote
trueraiderfan Posted March 9, 2007 Author Report Posted March 9, 2007 Thanks for all the input guys! I ended up going with something a lil bit diffrent though. I will try to post up some pics of it later tonight. i will tell you what it is thought. I went with 2 pieces of aluminum pipe about 5 3/4 in long to act as a typ of velocity stack and put the Uni filter's on the end of them instead of directly to the carbs. I welded a braket to the top of the pipes that bolted into where my plastic bolts go into so they werent just hanging there and it works great and looks good too. Also I made a braket out of aluminum for my coolant reserve as well. I just poped out the rubber rivets that it was attached to the stock box with and made them fit into the braket that i made and it even fits up to the stock plastic so you can take off the lid and everything else like normal.
