Race gas

Well my bike is up and running now I just got back from riding and im really happy with it. I rebuilt the top end w/65mm wisecos, milled the head .030 and had my cylinders ported (dune/drag port) I ended up at 160 psi compression so I guess I need to run race gas. For today I picked up some VP 101 octane unleaded fuel that I can get from the pump at a local gas station. Should I run this straight, mix it 50/50 or get higher octane fuel and mix it. Also should I get leaded or unleaded.

im kinda new to the quad world but i've been racing two stroke jetskis and at 160psi we'd still run premium.. when you get up to around 180s and higher then you are going to want to start dabbling with the race gas.. then again that's for our 2 stroke race boats (watercraft) might be different for quads, not having fresh cool lake water to cool the motor.. just my .02

To be honest, you're probably safe with 101 octane out of the pump...

Mixing 50/50 premium pump and 110 leaded race fuel will pretty much net the same result....but, no mixing coming out of the pump.

Some will say you're fine with 160 PSI on straight premium pump gas, I like to err on the safe side.

While I won't run race gas in a stock motor with stock compression....I won't take a chance on octane rating to save a few bucks once the compression gets up to 160ish...right where you're at. Race gas is cheaper than a top end any day of the week.

Bottom line is listen to your motor and check the plugs very, very closely for the first few rides. Make sure you're getting enough fuel to the motor, or octane won't matter!!!

It will tell you if it needs more octane...but, not for long.

Yeah, I agree too.

I think at that psi, I would be runnin' the straight 101 and play it safe....................
