hey all... I am planning to go somewhere this Aug. to hit some good dunes. We were originally going to go to St. Anthony's but we've been there a few times allready so we're thinking of hitting Oregon instead. Where would be the best place to go, and what kind of restrictions are there?? I read somewhere that you need to be below 93 decibles in Oregon, is that everywhere or just certain places?? Also do you need spark arrestors??

Florence is 93 db's. You almost never come across sound checks in Coos bay, Winchester, or Florence though. There is Coos Bay (my favorite= Horsfall), Winchester, Florence, Sand Lake, and Christmas Valley. The first three are the biggest and have the best amenities.

I think if I was coming from Canada, I'd hit Florence, Winchester, and Coos Bay. They're all within 45 miles of each other, with Winchester right in the middle. I think they each have their pros/cons, but all are very good riding.

No offense to the Sand Lake fans, but that place is nothing compared to the larger areas mentioned above. Probably 1/10 the size and almost as many people riding.

Give us a heads up when you make it down, i'm sure some HQ'ers would meet up with ya and show you around and drink some of your beer as well.

Coos bay has the best drag racing and the fasest banshees in oregon , winchester bay has the biggest dunes , florence has the best dunes for jumping, sand lake is ok for a daytrip but you can cover the entire thing in an hour easy. My friend got a ticket on his banshee with t5's at horsefalls campground for being 2 decibals over the limit a pig on a honda 450r rode up beside him and motioned him back to the rangers truck were they tested him it was total bs cause there was bikes way louder drag racing at boxcar 500yards away. below is a pic of winchester bay
