I am in the need for some a arms and shocks I would like to get like a package deal . I ride mostly wide open trails , but occasionly ride some trails with jumps and hills . I weigh 200 lbs I was thinking of maybe going with the alba kit , but I don't know everyone says there customer service sucks . I was thinking that I probably wanna get chrome arms because I'm in the process of dressing the bike up a little. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know , and thanks .

Depends on how much money you want to spend and whether or not you want the best suspension out there. Works are great for the money and are an improvement over stock. But I stepped it up to Ohlins and seen another difference over the works... TCS are also great shocks as well as AXIS...

I would rate these shocks from best to worst w/ my experience.

Axis

TCS

Ohlins

Works

Stock

As for A-arms, same thing, do you want adjustable arms? Camber? Castor? How much money do you want to spend?

Elka should also be near the top of that list.

How much are you looking to spend? Do you want +2 or +3's?

You noticed that I didn't put them in......lol I've tried a few shees w/ them and my 450 had them all around when I bought it. Maybe I just happen to ride all the worst valved ones, I don't know. I sold the ones off my yfz450 and bought ohlins...Night and day. Funny thing is that Duncan is rating them beside Axis, so thats why I didn't comment...They look nice and are well built, but I don't feel the ride quality. But the shocks are only as good as the guy who builds them, so I'll just leave it at that. I'm still waiting to ride a quad w/ them that sucks up the bumps w/o throwing the bike around.

Roll stuff is nice, but IMO (and most other peoples) its overpriced. Their a-arms don't do anything different than anybody elses.

$2600 for Roll and Elka shocks

vs

$1600 for Janssen arms and the same Elka shocks

vs

$1700 for Laeger arms and the same Elka shocks

(yeah I know, my prices probably aren't exact, but you get the point)

I wouldn't mind having them, but the only real benefit I can see is the balljoints. But at that price you could buy new heims every year, and still save money.

Just search this forum, you'll find plenty of good arms.

Oh, and Banchetta, you forgot PEPs on your list

i took my ohlins off and went with the Elkas, ride height means alot on a track.........but set up improperly even the best shock sucks

I've got zero preload Ohlins on my shee w/ dual rates as well...I hooked up w/ some company a few years ago. The guy was awesome, custom built them for me. I had to measure my arms from bolt to bolt w/ the chassis 4" off the ground and measure them w/ the arms fully extended...and did the same for the rear....now thats custom!!! So now I have the yfz450, so I called him up to get a set for the 450. He had a fall out w/ Ohlins and doesn't deal w/ them anymore...so he offered to build a set of Fox air shox for the 450 like what the sleds have.....I thought about it, but I didn't want to be the guinea pig....So I bought a set of Ohlins from another company. They didn't even ask for rider weight...I was like "what the f/ck!" It rides nice, but not like the shee....Biggest problem w/ Ohlins is finding a good builder that knows the shock.

I have a buddy who races the YFZ, and is sponsored by Elka. last year he changed out to the fox floats, and said the feel is so much better.

Roll Design LoboII front and rear with Elka Elite's.

If you going you might as well go big. Be ready to drop around 4G's on the Roll and Elka stuff but I will vouch for the performance.

This setup is the closest you will ever get to a 250R Based Outlaw bike like mine, I know because I had the aforementioned setup before.

I agee. I had the same setup in the past. Definitely the best out there if you can dough up the cash.

as for the a arms + 2's should work fine and the shocks don't have to be adjustable I mean yeah I want the best for my money , but I can't see putting 2 or 3 thousand or more in suspension when I'll probably never race other than racing my buddies on the local trails . I guess I'm looking into somewhere between 1000 to 2000 bucks for everything . I mean honestly I'm pretty dumb on suspension but I just don't wanna buy something that I'll never really see the full benefits of . I just need them for wot trails with occassional hills and jumps nothing real bad. What setup do you guys think would work the best ? and thanks again for your time and help .
