Binow
I just got the bike and it will need a new chain and sprocket set before going out to the dunes. It's a 370 with stage 2 port, cool head...yadda yadda. I don
theshee
When I got mine it was 14-41. It spun like a mother, so I am going to change it a little. Not sure exactally what to go with yet though.

bada450r
i say if your motor is running strong i would start at,14/41 or 15/41 thats what i had on a set up almost like yours, ported, cool head,vf3,timing set at 4o,and i would change it to 15/43 when racing up the hill..........my 2pesos. :: :: :: ::
b33rs
It really depends what you want more top or bottom, I run 12/45t  Edited February 2, 2007 by b33rs
dajogejr
10 paddle on a stock swingarm? Wow.... With a 44 on the back already (if you plan on keeping that) I would go 14 or so up front. You've got a ton of paddle....which is gonna bite too much in my opinion....so I wouldn't gear it super low...
Binow
I'm not hugely interested in top speed so much. I'd rather have better acceleration than top end. I agree the 10 paddles are a bit much but they came with the bike so I'll use them for now. My buddy that I ride with every weekend has a pretty stock YFZ450 so I dont need to much top end haha.... I have a 44 on the back now but that is just what came with the bike. It doesnt mean that is what I have to put back on there. Well dont put a 12 on the front, it will eat up your swingarm chain slider at an excessive rate, possibly go through it also.

bada450r
I was wondering the same thing... I have a 13/46 that was on when I bought it and don't know if I should buy a new set for better gearing or not. I'm running a +4 stroker, aggressive dune port, 33 PWKs, 160 comp, +2 swinger, and 21x12x8 8 paddle haulers. I'm kinda getting the feeling that 14/41 seems the way to go but..... Running at Glamis or SoCal sand only...some duning, some dragging up the hill I don't want to hijack this thread so if you can PM me, I'd appreciate it... :ninja: Thanks, Jay. i have never run,w 13/46 you run out of top end speed, shit you probably go up olds in 5 or 6,the only gearing i have played with on my shee, when it was stock with just pipes i run 13/41,work good,i ported the cylinders, and put a cool head, with time advance 4o,vf3,with stock swing arm,i started playing with gearing, and i ended up with 14/43 for the hill/or 14/41 i have never really liked a 13 sprocket in the front,i rather add to the rear,it just seems to work better for me,i also ride sand only, hope this helps.now i have a 421,and run 15/43 for the hill/or 15/41 for the flats works great for me.........my 2 cents :: :: :: ::
scuba147
I have no port work (stock motor)but all the add-ons you could have and run 15-41--I prefer a 15t over 14t-Seems like i shift less and pull longer.

I took it out to local creek riding area around here and other than getting beat to death trying to follow around my buddy on his YFZ450 it was pretty fun. I got smoked pretty bad drag racing him too. I couldnt get any traction at all in the first two gears. There was another guy out there that had a new LE Banshee with T6's (I think that was his only mod) that also lost several times to my buddy on the YFZ. The ground is really lose dirt type riding. My current gearing is 15 front and 44 back. I really liked rolling into 2nd gear and 3rd and 4th seemed pretty quick. I just had traction problems in the dirt, I'm sure once I put the paddles on in the sand it'll be a different story. I'm thinking of going with 14/43. What you guys think?
