Bansh-eman
its been awhile that i have done it but you should be able to hold it with the inner hub tool.... wedge it on the ground and torque it... if al else fails juts tighten it down as much as you can by holding the basket and call it good... you should have the little thing on there that bends over to hold the nut from spinning
woodro77
i put mine on with impact gun on lowest setting , never had a problem with it
dawarriorman
2 pieces of flat steel, a grinder, and some bolts. I made my own tool. Not to hard, works great.
MDS2106
If you use the impact be careful, I have seen someone bump it once to much and strip the nut.I use a fiber and a steel plate screwed together and place a penny between the gears to keep the basket from turning as i torque it.Once it is torqued I turn the basket slightly the other direction to remove the penny.Copper is soft so it won't hurt the gears. gregbowler
I just used a folded up rag stuffed in the gears. worked for me
nicktoney
but doesnt that inner hub spin by itself inside the big clutch basket? so stopping the gears wouldnt do much would it? i got that primary gear nut torqued with a home made tool.... but the clutch nut?? sheefreak
Yes, the inner hub will just spin w/the rag or penny. You should really get the proper tool to do this. I think the flywheel/clutch hub tool is like $20-$30 max. I have seen it done by screwing two screws into the hub and holding w/a screwdriver as mentioned above. But I have seen someone break one of the thread mounts on the hub doing this as well.

I just put my chain on my sprocket and bind it up like it was goin to to bust your case. Should stop that inner hub from turning. There may be a better way .. but this worked fine for me. Bansh-eman
i like the fiber and steel thing to hold the inner and basket and just put a penny in the gears.. but like i said above i got the tool so i didnt have to bother with it... i think i paid like 23 dollars or something like that for it... It is a lot of undue stress on a lot of parts(tranny gears, shafts, cases...).
