wobbleknobble
Today I purchased my second Banshee, Its a 2001 with FMF Fatty's. The main jets is 200 and 25 pilot, needls on 3rd. The bike was not running so-so on the left side so I removed both carbs and done a complete cleaning. After getting everything back together she run the best but with a hint of mid range bog so i raised the needle and went to a 240 main jet, The top end hurt severly as well as the mid range. I rode back to the garage and she started running poorly on the right side and then reved up and run out of gas. IS it possible that I jetted to rich? and that being low on fuel caused the sudden mis in the right side? The bike run like a champ when I first brought her home just the left side mis at mid range and idle. After the rejet she no screaming anymore. I hear of people running 260-300main with Fattys I live in Southeast with temps around 40ish. Please help!!! And yes I have searched and read these old topics until I am blue. Washburn
make sure you have the carb parts on the rite sides. It is possible if you take both carbs off to switch slides and bowls. Its a common mistake. Also make sure your carb slides are synched. You can get almost dead on with a screwdriver and eye but to be sure that your dead on a site sponcer Jeff at F.A.S.T Racing sells a carb synch tool that gets your carbs dead on. Also jetting is hit or miss and it can take a while to cut your time in half do a plug chop. Also from what I hear the FMF Fattys like a fatter Piolet 27.5. Ide get the mains dialed in first unless your having problems from 1/4 to 1/2 throttle. Try a 260-280 and go down from there. Im not a jetting expert someone will chime in with correct jetting specs and odds are they will be on but if you only read this post take the advise. Go back down to the 3rd clip too. wobbleknobble
Update__ Today I went back through the carbs and everything was o.k, But I did have the slides in the wrong carb. I got it all back together and drained the fuel, mixed up a fresh batch of H1R and she hauls mail!! I still am curious about the pilot jet being stock and running the 200 main jet, she runs good and plugs read tan, is it possible that here in Ky this time of year this small of a jet is o.k? The 240 main just bogged her down to much.
Washburn
I dont know, that sounds really small on the main. How does she run from 1/4 to 1/2 throttle? When you start it do you use the choke? Ide ask everybody else what they are running in theirs or if you have a local shop make friends with the mechanic. Someone will chime in. Future refrence there is a jetting section.
wobbleknobble
I use the choke pulled half out for fist kick or so it will hit and I push it back in she fires right up, The plugs seems fine and she runs great now pulls great from low to top no bogging or sputters. I am just concerned about the jetting due to that FmF recomends a 260 mian for starters, I see that lots of people run up to 320's I have the air box on as well as snorkel, K+n filter with Fatty's, 25 pilot, needle on 4th, 200 main. I run Belray H1R oil at 40:1.
fastbanshee8
You are choking it down, with the snorkel. Take that damned thing off, put some 260 mains in, at the very least, and do some plug chops to check your jetting. Trying to get enough air to feed the beast, through that snorkel, is like trying to force a bowling ball through a garden hose. The exhaust has been opened up, and the intake has been somewhat with the K&N, but that snorkel is killing you.
FASTOYS
fastbanshee hit the nail on the head. Your SNORKEL is holding you back. That is why you cant run much bigger than 200 or so. Try the 260 mains, snorkel off, air screws about 1/2-3/4 out. Should run like champ and have more get up and go power!
