Good Winter Oil?

Recommended Posts

Fellas I'm new to the winter riding game but I need to know of a good oil that won't breakdown because its now cold :banghead: . I normally run Castor 927 and 93 pump but that breaks down at 25-27 degrees with 93oct and 35 with 110oct according to Castor rep. I need some thing for a banshee that is ported, polished, shaved stock head, jetted, T-5's, VF3's (lables removed), TOR's disable but still on the bike, K&N in the stock box w/ no seat lid, +4 advanced, and the bike looks 100% stock(thats how I get paid :notworthy: ).

Thanks

Im thinking just good ole Yamalube 2-R. I had my gas tank outside for a month in the cold with 927 in it and it came out almost milky. Not good. I think Im just gonna run the 2R for the rest of the cold season and go back to the Castor in the warmer season. Ive ran Yamalube in my LT250R its whole life and it never complained.

Castor oils are a favorite among the methanol crowd because they stay mixed longer.

Any synthetic oil or semisynthetic will be fine. R50, Techniplate, or...as said, run of the mil yama 2R.

WHEEW, i just switched from a semisynthetic oil 7th gear was the brand. (most probly never heard of it, but i worked for the company that produced it. good stuff and inexpensive!

I ran out of the 7th gear, so I bought a case of techniplate. I should be OK for winter right DAJ??

if you happen to read the bottle, it says klotz stays combined indefinately... or something like that... so it should NEVER seperate..

In gas, maybe...but, it takes 3 seconds to shake the bike or the can up, why chance.

In Methanol, I'd bet you the sticker price of a new shee it can and will separate!!!

87....you're good year round...no worries. I've always like Klotz and Maxima products.

Not to say others don't work just fine, but...they've always worked for me....so, that's all I can go on.

What happened to you? I'm now running AMSOIL Dominator (red). Are there any problems that I need to be aware of? I don't want to buy another motor.

My buddies blew his quad up twice. (could have been user error not sure not my quad) But I ran it in my tranny and it kept socking into my clutch plates and making them slip. Switch too maxima 80wt and never had a problem. also I use Yamalube 32:1 in my gas and never had problems ether

Did the Amsoil you were useing state it was safe for a wet clutch. Ive heard of this happening to a few other people too but they were using the wrong oil.
