Washburn
I got the one from Jeff and havent been able to get to my bike to try it out yet. I have an idea on how to use it but Ive never used or even seen one before and some tips and instructions other than the ones that came in the box would be appricated. Oh in the instructions it says something about the throttle plate I figure they are talking about the slides?
bigboybanshee
Well, if it's like this one... Then you'll get your carbs as close as you can to synced, keep the air filters off the carbs and fire it up and let it idle. Press the sync tool up to the carb inlet and see what you got. The carb tool measures the velocity of air moving through it. Take it off the first carb and press it to the second carb. If the velocity looks the same, then hit and hold the throttle at 1/4 throttle...see where it's at and then put it back on the other carb....if the number is the same then hold it to roughly half throttle...check both carb's velocity and adjust the slides/air screws accordingly. That's how I did mine and it worked great...I didn't realize my carbs were out of sync until I used it, great tool to have Hope that made some sense, lol, I'm not the best when it comes to explaining things...once you stick the carb tool up to the carb and see the little gauge move with the throttle/air you'll figure out exactly how to use it...didn't take long to figure out
wood
took the tors off put on twist grip with idle screws,if both carbs are set up the same going off of the idle screws would that sync them pretty close,or is there alot more to syncing carbs. bigboybanshee
Yeah, there's a little more to it....gotta make sure both your slides are opening at the same time...your eye will get it really close, but this carb sync tool will make sure it's perfect. FASTOYS
Altvator, give me a holler if you need help with it as i tried to call you the other day but dont have the right #. Bigboy pretty much had it correct. Set the idle screws so the tool reads the same , then rev it up and hold it about 1000 rpm higher steady and set the pull with the carb top adjustes. Torque em down, double check and your done. Real easy.
dajogejr
I set mine at idle, then again at 3/8 to 1/2 throttle. Once the slack is taken out of the cable (off idle) you should only have to measure it once, it shouldn't change once the slides are no longer touching the idle screws... It sure is a handy little tool to have..
