Dgrey Posted January 14, 2007 Report Share Posted January 14, 2007 I have never installed a swing arm before. I just got it about 99% installed. I still have to do the chain. Its a +4 swing arm and I bought a 120 link chain. I think that I might have to cut a few links off. The carrier is adjusted out (towards the rear) as much as it can be. Do I need to be worried about that for dune riding? What do you guys think about "O" and "X" ring chains? I got an X ring chain so I guess I'll see how that works compared to O ring chains that I have had my entire life on bikes. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

But 2 things. 1st: Get rid of that stock donut chain slider, The aftermarket ones that are more like an arm are much better, and won't wear out the pivot tube. 2nd: The chain adjustment will be determined by the chain. There are three of them :biggrin: Ohh good call on that adjustment. If it is adjusted all the way out then I would not have much adjustment if I cut the chain to size. Thanks man! Bansh-eman Posted January 14, 2007 Report Share Posted January 14, 2007 it keeps the chain off the swingarms pivot piont so it doesnt make a hole in it the stoke one lets it touch right on the same spot making it rub through and hit your swingarm and put a hole in it.. Any mounting questions, I'm availabe 24 hours a day. 717-600-9377 Thanks, Scott Scott whats the deal with the bracket that the chain slider bolts to?I had to take the stock slider and drillout the holes and even slot the holes in the bracket some, to get the slider to mount.Both swingarms I purchased are like this.Is this swingarm intended to run a different slider than stock?Let me know which slider I need to buy, to match up to the holes. CFM Posted January 18, 2007 Report Share Posted January 18, 2007 Mark, I had an older guy drilling the plates on the mill, and apparently he did not set it to .000 It's a digital readout.... Thought I caught all of them, but some slipped through... Everyone I saw/packed I would modify a new gaurd and sent it free... Let me know if you need any help on the issue.. Thanks. Should have switched to the round housing while you were switching arms and had the chance. The stock chain adjustment is a BITCH and causes nothing but problems, and comes out of adjustment fairly easy. Some people even go as far as purchasing a stock length swingarm with the round honda style housing. You might want to flip the sprocket around, from the pics it looks like it is showing some wear, but I may be seeing things. X-ring is in every way better than an O-ring chain, it has more seals to block dirt and keep wax / oil in Did you have the shock re-valved? If not then I know what your next mod should be. I know im going to need to do something about the stock shock. How much does a re-valve usually run? My bro has the quicksand swing arm that has the round style carrier. I did not have enough money to spend $700 on that arm. Mine was only $150 and $30 for a brake line. I bought the e brake block off at a locak motorcycle shop here in San Diego. I do not know if they are on e bay or not. Im liking the X ring chain so far and it looks pretty cool too! Here are some more pictures!
