gipperz
Okay so I have this 87 suzuki quadzilla. It has a blown motor and not wanting to rebuild it and have a money pit on my hands I was looking for ideas for a motor to shoe horn in the chassis. The stock zilla motor could still be rebuilt, but......... I have heard they are not very reliable. Of course for the right price I'll sell the whole thing. What are your thoughts??? woodro77
sell it , they were not a good handling quad , if you keep it put a honda cr 500 motor in it , way more reliable than suzuki 500 and the cr will put out more power
NYUK
JUST TRADE IT FOR A BANSHEE. THERE ARE ZILLA LOVERS OUT THERE. PLANETSAND HAS A BUNCH. THEY ARE NOT WORTH THE HEADACHES.
sand4ever
When I had my 87 everyone was trying to get me to put a ninja 600 or 700 in it. Supposedly they will fit with little mods. And alot more power, but for practicle reasons they are a big bike. Thats why I sold mine and got a banshee instead. Best of luck.

fastrthnu
why did zuki discontinue those old lt250/500`s anyway? They where ugly as hell and didnt handle factory so well from what Ive heard, but when I was in my early teens, some guys a couple blocks away from me had a bunch of them ,maybe like 5 and a triz, and those bikes where frikin FAST! I'm not exactly sure why they quit making them, but I know they really weren't that great. The 500 had pretty good power, but was pretty unreliable, and didn't handle very good. The 250 didn't handle much better, and the power on those wasn't that great compared to something like a shee. A buddy of mine had an LT 250R that he dumped money into for years trying to make it go faster, and I was able to smoke him every time with a shee that had nothing more than pipes and a filter. woodro77
i know that suzuki had a problem with frames breaking on the lt 250 , i think they used to crack right behind the a arms
STLBILL
Besides the blown engine what's the rest like? Plastic in-tact?
gipperz
Besides the blown engine what's the rest like? Plastic in-tact? It appears to be all there, some cracks in the plastic. I'm surprised its all there being a 20 year old bike. My banshee is my money pit and decided I didn't need 2 right now. New plastic is available now, the bike even has the stock exhaust and the colors seem to be correct.
CMAC
Dont know how much truth there is to this, but i heard there was a big contraversy back then over the size and speed of the quads(the fed gov stepped in) heard yamaha was the only one that paid to keep making the wheelers they already had out, but they couldnt make any knew or bigger race machines. Suz- Hon both figured there wasnt a bi enough market at the time so they dumped their lines. Finally after the 7-8-9-1000 snowmobiles were coming out they they said HEY WHAT THE F--K and got the laws changed, thats when the 300 ex came into play. I seems to me there all carefull on the big moters. I know there is the Bomb 650(big and slow) The raptor 660 was improvement but was still pretty much a detuned trail machine. The knew 700 is a big improvment but still for a 700 dont know? Ya i know their 4 strokes.
