alcoholbanshee
You must have spark arrestors. I would say buy them now. They get top dollar for them at duneland (store at the entrance to the dunes). There are afew good hills to jump on, if thats your thing. Some nice flats to drag on. Just a real nice ride area. 4strokessuck
Sorry to hijack banshee man but I was thinking of doing the same thing. How about hills, are they a challenge, and about how tall are they? Around here, I ride sand quarries and have done alot of hills in Lacey Twp. that are about 50-75ft. with about a 45-60 degree incline. I see pictures of Glamis and am dying to ride dunes but michigan is the closest thing to NJ. Is it worth the travel and fees? Thanks. Derick derrick..... there is camping but not right on the dunes.... and as far as the spark arrestors they wont even let you on the dunes without them.... you can get the clamp on sparky's for like 70.00 a piece at RMATV and also they do DB testing as well and the limit is 98DB....just to let ya know
ThE_BaNsHeE_mAn88
ok thanks dan. i dont think my bikeis over 98 DB. son of a bitch i dont feel like spending $140 on a spark arrestor im only going to use once. what else can i do about the spark arrestor thing? dajogejr
You can put the bike in the back of the truck, and pull it in the dunes...then get a $150.00 ticket when (not if) they catch you.... Sucks...but, you really should run 'em. They are not as strict on the db level....on a holiday weekend, just about everyone is getting checked...but, less busy weekends they are more lax... Shee-Male
Silver lake (Mears) has a good website, you can find all the parking, passes, & park info there.
sheefreak
Sometimes there are bad ass jumps there, sometimes not so much. The dunes change all the time. Even from day to day on dry windy days. But if you haven't ridden dunes, it is definately worth at least one trip to check it out. I am hooked, I go as much as possible. Oh, and if you spend enough time at the dunes, the drag stip will call out to you. It is uncontrollable LOL.

I second that except I used to only trail ride but there was always this long street right before the trails that Alot of people will meet up and just race up and down all day until the cops come and we all just dip to the trails.Ahh those good ol days I used to think racing was gay.(I was on a 4poke)Then I finnally got a shee and now im SICK in the head about this thing all my money goes into it. chappy
You definently need spark arrestors or they won't let you out there. You could always throw the stock silencers on there for the trip or get some pretty cheap on ebay or a fellow member on here.As for places to stay I would suggest Val Du Lakes campground or Silver City campgrounds if you want a drinking and party type place to stay or if you just want a cheap place to stay then I would suggest the state park campgrounds.Don't forget the flag ,there about $25 if I remember and you can get them at the store right at the park entrance and you will need a voucher to get in on the weekends after Memorial day and you will have to get a state offroad sticker and either a daily pass to get in the park pr a seasonal for a little more. The sand changes daily so some days there are more jumps then other times but you should be able to find some there. Most of the hills are peaked pretty good in the spring because of all the wind from the winter. We will be there in April for sure And we are gonna try to go once a month or so this summer so maybe we will see you out there

4strokessuck
Yo I found a good website for regulations for the dunes: http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7-153-1...34760--,00.html Now that I read that, I have some more questions: How much is it to get into the dunes? How much is the Michigan State Park Motor Vehicle Permit? Do I need that for my Banshee AND my truck? Even if the truck stays in the lot? How much is a Michigan ORV Registration? Thanks for the info. chappy
Alright the vouchers are free all they do is garuntee you a spot getting in the park. They go by 2hour increments starting at I believe 7Am.The ORV sticker last year was $16.25 and its probably going to go up this year a little.A day pass into the park I believe was around $6.00 a day or around $25 for a seasonal.I don't think you need a orv for the truck if it just stays in the parking lot. They should post the prices on the website you posted later in the year when they decide the prices for 07.You have to be 21 to stay at Silver city campground and that is a definent party place and 18 to stay at Val Du and that is also a party place.Val Du use to be more of a party place then it is now but if you go on a busy weekend then it is fun and Val Du has the Bikini Bar thats pretty fun also on a busy weekend.Last year when we stayed at Val Du there were some guys having a bachelor party there and they had strippers there  .I was surprised to see what girls will do for a beer
