Pay $25 to the Florida Bar Lawyer Referral Service and get sound advice from a person licensed to give legal advice in your state. Not sure if a police report will work since he did not steal it. Do you have proof he gave you $500? Do you have any paperwork stating he was to pay $3000? If this guy wants to be an ass he can go to court and say you guys agreed on $500. So if you have no proof of a sale you might be SOL. Now on the other hand, just go get it.
