HELP A NOOB?

05 SHEE, I took of the box lid, FMF's, FMF Boost Bottle, and took it out running only 220 Jets. I didn't get into it at all, just rode around easy and got on it a couple times and it was fine. No problems what so ever. I then checked around and found I should be running about 280s. I switched the Jets and then when I started it the left side was running weak as hell, backfiring, and I have more throttle than anyone could ever imagine. I touch my throttle and it revs about 3/4's. You can barly ride it. I figured it might be a plug and loading up so I switched the plugs and it did the same thing on the left side. I figured maybe what I heard about 280's was way wrong so I went back down to 220's and it is still doing the exact thing. Backfiring and reving all the way up. I baught the quad Brand new about 4 months ago. I have went over everything with a fine tooth comb, there is NO AIR LEAKS. WTF IS IT???????????????????

That sounds like bad news. You should be running 280's or something close to that if your somewhere around sea level. I would start by putting in 2 brand new plugs with 280 main jets & I would check your slides in your carbs to make sure that you didn't get them in backwards after changing the jets the first couple of times (very common mistake). If I remember correctly the cutaway portion on the bottom of the slide should be facing the rear of the bike. Somebody will correct me on here if I'm wrong.

Good luck.

Oh yeah, I see you took off the airbox lid to the filter. This is a bad idea unless you have an adapter plate as the lid actually holds the filter in place. It's a bad design but until you get the parts to get around it you need to leave the lid on so the filter stays in place.

My bad Dudes, forgot to mention. I am positive carbs are in right and I have K&N Airfilter with proflow adapter. I have the 280s I put in but no mater what I run 220-280 it backfires and revs all the way up. Any ideas ?

is your tors removed?slides stuck?hmmm.

same thing happened to me it ended up being that my throttle cable housing got pulled out of its hole ware the one cable splits into two. It was putting extra tension on the cable and holding the slide in the left carb open farther than the right. Easy fix if that

If you keep running it in the 220ish range you will have problems. Is it cold where you are at? I ran the same setup as you at one time and ran 320's in the summer. It was rich on the hot days but always ran great. The fatty's like a richer mid, and pilot. If it is cold I would start at about 330's, lower the clip one notch on the needle, and run a 27.5 pilot w/airscrews about a turn out. May even go w/30's w/airscrews 2 turns out. Either one will be close.

Thanks everyone so much for the help. I have always been a car guy and a bike (street bike) kinda guy. Quads with dual everything is way new and its nice to get some help sometimes. I am gonna tear it down this weekendm, so to make sure I should focus on the carbs and cables right? Thanks again everyone for the help

Try the jetting suggestions that you were given and I think you will be very happy.

ya definitly 22 mains are way too lean maybe try at least 260s -280s and ive had the backfiring problem before too. A few things it could be is the flywheel key is sheared. Bad stator....my old problem. And dirty carbs. And make sure the carbs are in sync do you have tors?
