before you go and do the conversion you might want to read into it some... they are known for being HUGE headaches! i have heard maybe 2 stories where the outcome was possitive... and many many stories where the stator burned out after the 2nd ride... unless your powering some seriouse lights you dont need a dc conversion....

Well 2 things I want to advance my timing to +4 so the Ricky stator kit sounds like the hot ticket and I figure why not do the conversion will im at it. What other problems have people than burning the stator out? Also I guess I could go a different rout with advancing my timing have u seen a do it your self remedy I do have pretty good fabrication skills.

ps love your bike how long is that swingarm?

you can make the stock plate adjustable ...only differance is the pro design or ricky stator come with the mounting holes already elongated and the plate has the timing marks on so you know how much timing your advancing it...

theres no reason to do a dc conversion just becasue your geting a rs 200 watt.. if your only powering a few lights and your ignition then the stator doesnt need the conversion...

only good the conversion really is for is to charge a battery so your lights can stay on while your motor is off.... but they burn the stators out so fsat its kinda pointless just kick the bike over and let it run if you need lights that bad... why burn a brand new stator?

its a +4, but im selling it casue im goig longer for my new motor.

I converted to DC and haven't had any stator issues. However I disagree that the only reason is so you can run your lights with the bike off. If that's your only goal, then kick the damn thing over! The ONLY reason why anyone should consider the conversion is if they want to run HID lights. Unless you want HID's, then just get the 200w stator and a shitload of lights. Leave the conversion out of it.

I'm going to have to agree with Wallrat. If you want HID lights then do the conversion. If you don't know a bit about electronics don't try to do the conversion because you will end up with problems.

Bansh-eman has read about all the bad experiences on the board. He does not know about the 4 guys running HID's in our little camp that have not had problems. One of the guys has a HID on his CRF50 pit bike with no problems at all... It's all up to the installer imo.

I have converted quite a few sleds with no issues, and will be doing my banshee this winter. I use a regulator/ rectifier from a company in wisconsin though. Ricky claimed his rectifier dumped the 200w stator down to 130w on the conversion. The rectifier I use on the sleds has no measurable loss.
