uscgflorida
Ok guys, this is my first banshee and my first 2 stroke. Bone stoke except a pro design foam filter and twist throttle with the tors removed. I upped the main jet to 220. Now all it does is bog BAD from about 1/2 to wot. I tried to put the chocke on the first nocth and it was worse. Am I too lean or too rich?? Too rich right?? It does start alot better now since I did the filter and removed the tors. It starts on the first kick. Please help Live in florida, sea leval, about 75 degres.
dajogejr
Did you properly and carefully sync the carbs? Turn the air screws all the way in. .5 turns out from seated, keep turning the air screws 1/2 turn out until it wakes back up. Allow 20 seconds between air screw adjustments for the bike to "react" from it. Get rid of that snorkel while you're at it... A few basic questions. 1. Carb slides in the wrong carb? that can cause this. 2. Choke tube back in place between the two carbs? 3. Carb bowls on the right carbs? Carbs are synced, I did one carb at a time, Chock tube back in place.
dajogejr
Conventional wisdom would say 220 to 240 main with stock everything, filter and no airbox lid. If everything is up to snuff...lean out the main. Careful...and check the plugs along the way...

csrmel
honestly i believe yamaha jets the stock banshee a hair rich right from the factory. so if you pulled the lid you would probably be spot on with 200's or 210's. but in reality that bike isnt going to bog with anything from 200 to 240. i doubt youre bogging is related to the mains. on my bike i can put anything from 280 to 350 in and it wont bog. id bet you did something wrong with you re assembled the carbs. perhaps the slides are in wrong. do a plug chop and post up the pics. dajogejr
Glad to hear...do a proper plug chop just to be sure your mains are dialed in!!
csrmel
unless youve got an airleak, there isnt any way a stock banshee could go from 200's to 260's with just a filter and lid. hell t5's are 1 step away at 280. spary some ether or carb cleaner around the boots and carbs. uscgflorida
I checked for air leaks today, didnt find any. the reason i was checking way because when i start her up with the choke on the first notch I can hear air being sucked. (Yes the cross ove tube is in place) It only does it with the chocke on. other than that it is running really good.
