banshee help

My friend has a 250r yeah i said honda as you guys grown the thing is pretty quick. The worst thing about it is that its an atc so its really light. I wont bang on hondas even though i love my banshee but most of you must agree that the 250r is a nice bike and makes pretty good power plus it is a 2 stroke so you have to give it that considering there are not many out there anymore. So, this is my issue he has a 310 esr kit on it with a full on drag port out of frame drag pipe rad valve 40.5 carb cr ignition, and a open air K&N set up. I am not sure the hp on it but the damn thing has some torque and its light. I want to beat him and i am on a buget. My mods are as fallows cool head 18cc domes in it, t5's delta force 2's pro design boost bottle dyna ignition and light flywheel with a timing plate, and a pro flow from prodesign. My next step i want to take is either a 4mil motor or a really good port job. The two main places i have been looking are K&T and Passion. I have heard nothing but great things from bother. From what it seems both are well respected in these forums also. My only problem is that i only have about 1000 to spend at this time. Considering porting will run around 600 plus i want to put a new set of pistons in the bike while im at it because my ulta lites have more then a few hours on it. Is any one selling and parts from either one of these companies or do they have any other suggestions on what i might do. I really would like to have an extra part of cylinders because i have enother banshee on its stock bore, but one cylinder needs a sleave and the crank is junk someone ran no mix in the bike. Last question is around what hp rang do you get from a 4 mil or a stock 350 on a solid port job running regular race gas? Thanks for your time everyone.

I agree with Jeff, but for 1000 you're not getting a crank to drop in and porting, etc....ain't gonna happen.

Is this 250R on a drag chassis?

Where are you guys running? Sand, pavement, etc?

Traction control is the biggest issue for a banshee owner, sand and paddles sure help that! A good strong port job should be able to beat that bike, unless it's way lightened up...drag style.

There are a lot of things to consider, as well....such as how your banshee is going to shift once you put that much more power to it. Also, a better clutch, also...a longer swingarm to keep the front end down, better flowing pipes, bigger carbs... It goes on and on. And if your skills aren't up to par...well, then you're just wasting money...

Once you go down the drag racing path, you're never done with your bike. You're only in between the "Next Mod"...trust me!

I have a hinson clutch basket and a parnet clutch with swings. The bike is a ATV you know a three wheeler thats why it is really light. So no expected hp ratings? and i also have a shifting star in my bike im not sure how much it helps but im sure it does some. And in the sand i run 10 cup haulers and they have always worked well as for regular ridding i have some turf tamers on it now. Thanks for the help everyone and do you know if any of the builder you listed have a custom program for my dyna to run with their motors?

for right now, you don't have enough motor to pull a 10 paddle efficiently. Believe it or not, if you went to 8 paddle, you'd be faster especially on stock swinger.

I ran 10 paddle on my cub with a 6 over, prolly putting out a little more than twice the HP you have now.

Now...if you're gonna build a bigger stroker motor soon, then keep the 10 row. For a simple bolt on bike, that is too much paddle....

I find that sort of odd because i never have had any sort of problem pulling them the bike handles very nicely in the sand and it doesn't seem like they are killing my quad. To be really honest with you i love the way they work and when im duning i can brake them loss whenever i want to. You may be right my bike is no drag bike by any means and it is just a bolt on a go sort of set up but i really enjoy the power that it has. First things first i dont want a drag bike. I just want to beat my buddy and banshee's have always seemed fast. Maybe it has something to do with the height of the rider i only way about 160 too. But i do trust what your saying because i never have riden a cub or trex or anything in that sort. My bro has a trinity IV porting on it and i really am not impressed with it to be honest with you guys.

Karzy150, I do reasonably priced motor work/porting and can probably keep it close to your budget. Let me know if I can help you out. I sent you a pm.

Your bike probably does work pretty well w/ 10 paddles, no doubt. But, I gaurentee it will be faster with 8 row instead...:) If you're gonna port it/build a stroker, keep the 10s.

Bob @ R&B (machwon) does pretty impressive work for the price. I rode a banshee closing weekend at Silver Lake with his port job, and I was impressed...especially for the price paid...

I truly believe you get what you pay for...and Bob does very good work as well...

No, there are a lot of top notch names, and in that upper echelon, faster guys are the ones that can set their bike up. I am fond of Patriot Racing. But that just happens to be one builder I happened to work w/and am very satisfied w/his work and a nice personable guy as well. Best thing to do as mentioned a million times before is call a few and go w/who treats you the way you want to be treated as a customer.

Go to http://www.farmandsandtoys.com.

You will be happy. I sent Jeff my jugs & carbs, he gave me an aggressive dune port, TORS removal and jetted the carbs. I bolted back together with his instructions and put on the trailer for Glamis.

This thing runs so hard I can't keep the front end down. Now, longer swing arm, and then...?

Honestly I wish I had the time to call people and get there two cents on this subject and their point of views on things, but I work 6 days a week 12 hour plus days so when i get off work almost everyone is close and when i get up no one is open, and i am sure many of you understand when you finally have time off you dont want to be spending it on the phone, plus not many shops are open on sundays. Thats one of my issus, that is why i come to this forum because I know all of you people love banshees and many of you have port jobs and know who you like to deal with rather then getting screwed by a shop i just up and pick. To be honest with you the passion guy really helped me about 8 months ago on a different forum and he gave me a lot of informate on the net which doesn't happen very often at all. The only thing is im just curious of power because if I have to spend and extra 300 or 400 bucks ill do it to get something that is done right from the start rather then save 300 or 400 and being stuck with junk forever. If I got my bike ported and didnt like how the work was done you pretty much stuck with it and I know I couldnt just sell some cylinders to someone that I wasn't happy with myself.

I fully understand being busy and not being able to reach out and talk to someone. However, you're gonna have to make some time as best you can. I honestly think you'd be doing yourself a dis-service if you didn't at least chat with a few of the builders...for pricing and their attitude/helpfulness.

Your call...I've always had good luck with Jeff at FAST. However, he's not the only guy turning wrenches...so, take that as you may!!
