ToomeySheeLE
CPI and Shearers are just two of the popular pipes for a drag port.. You could also look into Grand River Racing(GRR) and RDZ pipes. Some people run t-5's as well, and may accually have their powerband come on faster with a pipe like that instead of a really huge inframe, like the others listed. Good luck with your choice. Words of Caution : If your builder is calling his port job a "full port"... I would look into getting someone else to do the porting.. He probally means a drag port because thats as extreme and "full" as you can go....Or on the other hand, as ruined and fucked up you can get your cylinders back if he's not up to the Ultimate dremel challange. 375hp banshees
not steeling your thread but; what would be the result of getting A drag port & running fatty's, ect... other than not using the full potential of the port job? 1quickshee
so this rumor i hear about if you want to drag port it you need drag pipes, but your telling me i can run t5's"? so what would be better t5's or drag pipes
dajogejr
Simply put....you build and engine and buy accessories to match it. You wouldn't put a 200 shot fogger of Nitrous on a car, then put standard old street tires on it for the drag strip, would you? You don't see a top fuel funny car running through catalytic converters and mufflers.... A drag port is a wide open design and timings, and this port job will give you the MOST power, but it will be in a very short RPM range. Usually like 7500 or 8500 to 11 or 12K. Perfectly fine for drag racing (since...you'll be WOT beginning to end) but about worthless for anything else. Now...that being said, a T5 is not a drag style pipe. I would say it is a mid range and up pipe. BUT, it would be choking a drag ported motor out. So, you'd be wasting your money on a drag port with trail style pipes. You build your motor, then accessorize it, not the other way around. Mikey...I think you need to get a better source of info if you ask me. And, instead of beating around the bush, exactly what type of riding do you plan on doing? Keeping in mind, once you go with a drag setup, are you prepared to get large carbs, longer swingarm and chain, a lockup clutch and override, etc? To handle all this power? 06BaNsHeE
yea cpi n sheares are the only 1's you can go then right? and a full port is the same as a drag port correct? If your builder has a dyno you could put on different pipes and see which one performs better on your bike.I think that can be the best way to find out.As for the full port or drag port it should mean the same thing, give hima a call and find out. 1quickshee
the bike will mostly be used for up and down racing mayb a little trail here and there not much tho, i bought a suzuki 450r for trail riding and ect..... i sold my old banshee a wild back, but now im in the market for my next 1 hopefully this month, but i been looking around and people have said 0o0 i have full port job and t5's and i thought u couldnt go with the t5s on that kind of set up, point being is that, now adays you cant find a stock banshee, so im forced to get 1 with a little work already, i been thinking of building from the ground up and going CPI full drag port extended swing....but its been hard find a rolling frame for a good price.... so im planing on having the banshee done that right way not like my old 1 (you can ask chase how bad it was)
dajogejr
You can buy a fully assembled drag/dune bike cheaper than you can build it yourself. However, then you don't have that "built by me" thing going... "Full Port Jobs" is a wide open possibility...one man's cleanup port can be another's MX/Dune port....all depends. T5s work very well with most porting, and yes they will work on drag porting. But, point is...if it's already drag ported, you will benefit more from a top end style drag pipe... If you want to build a ground up or turn key bike...and don't mind dealing with shipping, let me know. I've got a guy that can do it all up pretty cheaply, and his shit runs very hard. Your wallet is always the limit...let me know.
scooter
i would check around and talk to some well known builders i have t6s which i was told dont respond well to porting like the t5s but after talking to some different people they said they can port my bike just fine im sure it wont be as fast as a full drag port but a mild dune port is fine for me.they can do the port work to match your mods and type of riding
