if for you i say get some more motor work, but you really dont have to do nothing exept send your carbs out to get them hookup by any repuadable builder of course. :banghead: :banghead:

Not to mention that you cut your gas milage in half. Once they mod the carbs you cant switch them back because they usually do some dirlling.

tipically alcohol likes compression and timing.. with kehin carbs they cant be converted back once they are converted to it.. mikuni carbs most can be converted back (tm's in particular for sure) and the power jet would just have to be shut off..

Exactly what I was going to write. However, I powerjetted my 35PWKs thinking I was going to use them to switch to booze.... When the riding temps went from 75 to 40 degrees or so, it was nice to just add a little fuel instead of rejet.

I had Andy at Grand River Racing do mine. I believe their site is grandriverracing.com, but not sure. You should really listen to what everyone else is trying to tell you though. There is alot more that goes into running alky other than just dumping it in the tank and going.

Your compression has to be in a certain range, you will have to spend hours jetting it, after every ride you have to purge the alky out if it is going to set more than over night. Your gonna have to buy a pingle dual fuel valve which is around $100. You can forget about trail riding unless you only like riding for a couple of minutes. Granted I have bigger carbs than you but if I get 40 minutes on a tank thats good. You are also limited to a couple of different oils. Make sure you run the right stuff, synthetics will not mix with alky. I was told to run atleast +7 degree timing, according to your sig that means you would have to buy a plate as well.which is $35. The actuall labor to get it done costs me $100. Plan on investing on more than one set of jets, and everyone on here know that jets add up quick at somewhere around $3-$5 a pop. If you plan on riding in cold weather have fun kicking it a few times, I only had problems when it got down to like 50-60 at night.

My suggestion to you is to ask yourself exactly what you want to do with your shee, If you add up the costs above you could almost get a play port from Jeff @ FAST. Which would be a much better choice adn probably run better than a bone stock shee on alky.

Its your decision, just thought I would chime in a little. And as for me going to alky I don't regret it at all, but I think our riding styles are a little different.

Good advice and several good points were made here. :woot:

Alky is actually easier to tune than gas. You drill jets and dump tubes, add power jets...and you're done. You just open or close the power jet accordingly to get enough alky in the motor.

However....as said above, timing, compression, squish angle...ignition, all important.

Smaller gap on the plug, more oil in the gas, and you want a castor type oil.

Maxima 927 and Klotz Benoil are the most common used with booze.

If you're just going to dune and drag race with your quad, it is the way to go. Otherwise, good porting is really the key.

I will only ride my quad now at dunes and the drag strip, so...I'm making the jump. My friends that have made it will never go back, either...but, they ride the same. Ice, dunes and drag.

I consider myself a pretty good tuner on gas. I'm lucky enough to have a good friend who builds a TON of alky bikes, mine included...to guide me...:)

junky, isnt your bike setup for desert riding like baja style? if thats the case your fooling your self to try and run alky... your not going to get far until your out of fuel, you still have much more you can do to your bike to make it perform better then jumping right into alky...

usually you dont have to purge the bike every time you put it up.. i usually dont purge it till the weekend is overwith.. that way you dont have to keep changing plugs since when you purge with the gas it will foul them..

also ive always ran 36:1 ratio with gas and alcohol.. no change there either..

I never used to purge mine after every ride then it blew up and i pulled it apart and the crank was rusted from letting the alky set in it, but anyways now I purge my bike after every ride and have never had to change the plugs from the gasonline fouling them.
