badassbanshee479
for the money you are going to spend on the super cub I would buy A big cheetah. you can go alot bigger on the bore with the cheetah, they have power valves, bigger intakes, and set up right will make more power in the end. they are pricey but its only money. I know I will be building either a 14 or 16mill cheetah next. like they say "go big or go home!" Washburn, you should see alot of dave and I up at silver lake this up coming year, we are going to have basicly the same engines so it should be fun to watch. let us know when you are heading up I am game for meetin up with ya, and I am sure dave is too. dajogejr
You can count on that!!! Washburn..where ya from? I think JT and I are going to head to Clarksville quite often, too. It's only a 2 hour drive for me, 1.5 hour for JT. 300 ft sand drags, lots of fun and I've met some cool cats going there this year. Clarksville (Bob's Family Raceway) is off 96, exit 59. About an hour or so East of Grand Rapids. Should be fun... I got a bunch of buddies with 4 pokes too, all in good fun to head out there. JT and I pretty much ride for a bit, then spend more time BSing with friends and fellow riders on the side... Run a few more times....BS...it's all good! I have as much fun BSing with the crowd as I do riding. well...maybe... I had a great time with my little 4 mil this year. I'm doing some more work, gonna ride it all next year...then, who knows. I might build a big Cheetah...or, I might just leave it as is and get a 4 stroke for some trail riding with buddies. Yeah, it gets pricey any way you slice it!
majicmike
One word... PRICE. My next big motor build will be a Cheetah motor. Probably a 10 mil...but, this little cub runs damn good for me right now...I'm not done with it yet!! I'm pretty sure the Cheetah motors take different reed cages than the Cubs do. CR250 cages...but again, not sure. They might even take a different head. The cubs are a bolt on cylinder. They accept the stock pistons, head, exhaust, reed cages, etc. With the big cheetah the power gain over the cub is only 5-6 horse buy some of the best builders. With the Cheetah you will need a new head, new reeds , new pipes, new intakes which will run up words of $1500. With the super cub all you need is the case bored and head you can use your pipes, reeds , intake, the head and the case work are worst case $500 . the super cub makes 2-3 hp more than the 68mm cub with very little testing. Also no one that I know of has dyno numbers on a 10mm super cub it may make more or as much as a Cheetah . As far as porting both the cheetah and the super cub take a lot of work to get them right. If things work out rob and I will have a 10mm super here shortly Ill let people know about the numbers. Thats just my .02 Edited December 1, 2006 by majicmike

I heard you were working with Rob to design one...just for the Super... Cheetahs might only make a bit more...but, I think you'll agree they'll be easier to get going and won't punish you if you shift early...etc., due to the PV... Just my thought, anywho... R&D is great on that head I dont want to step on toes I am not a good sorce for info on the PV because they do not work worth a crap here. 5280 ft in denver and 8300 ft where we ride. The power valve does not open when it should . we lose 0.7 points of compresion at 5280ft so if you do the math you lose a little more than a full point at the dunes. IMO the ports are to large on the 10mm cheetah and under for were we ride. So the super cub with the smaller ports and the bigger bore should work great here where at sea level it may only make 2-3 hp more here it may make 7-10 over the 68mm bore and the Cheetah. I could write a book about this .

I bet if we took some of the big bikes from walden and took them to sea level it would be crazy! Lots of tuning though. I would hate to meet someone who rides sea level at walden trying ot tune their stuff. That would be a jetting nightmare... 0ft to 8000+ft. My ranch has elevations from 7000ft all the way up to about 8800ft. It gets to be a pain in the butt when I go from KP to my ranch back and forth every month. Fuel injection would be sweet, but I'm still skeptical of it right now on quads. Havne't seen very many FI ones run as good as I thought they would. Numbers maybe higher than first thought :ninja: Ill post more when I have the sheet with the best numbers we can get. when the bottle is added it may be silly but I dont have solid numbers yet. Definately worth going to the yammie board over there and seeing whats up...
creamsickle
I would love to see a sheet on a ten mill super. as well as the mini billets. we are getting ready to do 2 super cub setups. hope they turn out well. really trying to get my hands on a few mini billets. I think im going to be doing a 10mill after the first of the year. anybody out there tuned a cheetah DM yet? I would like to see how much more gains the super 10mill will make over the 68. im thinking the reed cage will restrict the power, seems like effiency will go down
