sweetquads
I put these carbs on and now i dont seem to be able to start the damn thing up. I kick and kick and it doesnt start. If i pull start it it start right away though. Also it seems like there is more exhaust out of one side than the other. Also if i shoot some gas in the carb it starts, not easy but it starts. Anybody have a tips on what would make it start so hard?

jbooker82
You need to get you one of these tools. It will take care of that problem of more exhaust coming out of one side. You aslo use it to sync the carbs. Just crack the throttle opean and see how much air it is pulling and adjust the carb cables until it is the same. Well worth the 50 bucks! sweetquads
What part of the carb do you adjust to equal the exhaust?
Bansh-eman
the adjusters on the tops of the carbs... you need a sync tol to make sure your pulling the slides the same amount when you pull the throttle...
RATBIKE0130
If you just took the stock carbs/TORS system off make sure you unplug the black box under the gas tank. If you don't push on the throttle the switch in the throttle assembly tells the CDI that your throttle is stuck WFO so it kills the spark. dajogejr
Actually, there's two adjustments. First is idle, once warmed up, place it at the back of the carbs to check the vacuum at idle, adjust accordingly. Then, with a steady hand, hold the throttle about 1/4 way open, check the vacuum again. Idle is set with the black plastic screws going into the slide tower. Off idle is set by the adjusters on top of the carbs.... Remember, you need to have some slack in the cable, as well. If not...it will idle up when you turn the bars lock to lock. I think you may be overlooking other things. Have you done a leak down or compression test on this motor?
jbooker82
Then, with a steady hand, hold the throttle about 1/4 way open, check the vacuum again. I take the thumb throttle cover off and use a small 1/4 in drive socket in between the throttle housing and the arm that the cable conects to. That way you dont have to worry about being steady. Your problem with more exhaust or smoke coming out of one pipe vs the other is probably that the idle screws are not synced, unless for some reason your air srews are different # of turns out.
