Hollister_Hitman
My bike spits coolant after a few minutes of riding. I tried engine ice, didn't fix it. Then I tried a hi-flow impellar, thought it did good for one ride then the next I smelled coolant. The Impellar spins good. My motor has 200+ hours on it since December. Any Ideas? I don't know the compression and it is jetted great. ALso the stock impellar looked fine when I took it out and so did the plastic gear. dawarriorman
More than likely its a bad head gasket/o-ring. Spitting coolant out the overflow doesn't mean its overheating, it means its spitting coolant out the overflow. Overheating is just a common cause. Wouldn't hurt to flush the cooling system with a vinegar/water mix though to clean it out.

scooter
most banshees will drip a little, maybe a few drops out of the overflow at least on the ones i have owned and my friends .if its more that and you can smell it you may have a problem i know you have to keep them moving too cool they dont like being putted around especialy in the heat
csrmel
youre engine shouldnt even be up to operating temp after only a few minutes. id bet youve got a bad headgasket or oring. my banshee saw kiddy duty this weekend, me putting around with little 4-8 year olds on the seat in front of me in 1st through 2rd gear at low rpm's. such a low speed is a real channelge for the cooling system. none the less after 20 minutes my infrared tempature gun showed only a 190 degree temp off the top of the cylinder head. it was just up to operating temp after 20 mins. if i run it around hard in 1st and 2nd it still would take 10 mins to get up to 190 so based on my temps and run time compared to yours i would say you definidly have a head sealing issue. Hollister_Hitman
Thanks guys. Also it doesn;t spit after a few minutes from cold. I let it warm up at idle then hop on and go. My curent jetting is 190 main 52 pilot and I don't know about the needle. 35mm single dmc 916 exhaust no arbox lid 1000ft elv. If I remove my head how can I tell if the head gasket is bad? Damaged, discolored, etc...? Also the previous owner (my brother) had the same coolant in it for 3+ years with <100 hours on the bike. Also I flushed it pretty good before I put in the engine ice
Bansh-eman
if you got a cool head the o ring will have a small spot that maybe discolored, or your going to need to take the oring and bend it a little bit all the way around and you will see if it has a dry spot that cracked... csrmel
remove the radiator cap and warm it up. give the throttle a couple zings and watch for bubbles comming up through the radiator neck. as it idles and gets up to temp there should not be any bubbles, not even small ones that are hard to see. (watch very carefully with a flashlight.). does the engine seem to "use" coolant, even at a small level? next check the compression. when i had a bad head gasket i lost about an ounce or 2 of coolant every day. my motor awalys seemed to run hot. other than that it ran great. you would of never guessed it has a headgasket leak except for the odd symptoms.
