LiftdT4R Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 I just read this on Yahoo, and I didn;t know what to think of it. It doesnt surprise me that it happened in CA. Here's the link http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061123/ap_on_.../homeless_raids I think these people arent legal residents wherever they're living at, and if they don't like having they're junk thrown away, get a friggin' job. I mean if I would enjoy all of the rights that everyone else did, why would I bother working? No? Maybe I'm getting a little insensitive. Quote

It isn't that easy to get a job when you smell and look like shit. Most places won't hire people with out an address. However, I think that you have to realise you are living on the fringes of the community and that you are taking the risk of lossing your stuff. Unfortunatly it is going to take the actions of the masses to get these people off the streets, but then again there are some peolple that are homless for a good reason. Quote

Ohhh, I've picked up my share of day laborers that didn't smell like anything wonderful, and most certainly didnt have an adress. Hey, you gotta start somewhere. I realize that unfortunate things do happen, but you shouldnt put yourself in a position where it easy to become homeless given a tradgedy. So I would kind of have to say, that you shouldnt really put yourself in that position to begin with, unless it is an extreme circumstance. Quote
PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 Funny this came up. I was just listening to the comedy channel on my xm yesterday and one of the comedians was talking about homeless people. The point he made was that if homeless people can't make it in the USA then they sure wouldn't be able to make it anywhere else. It takes effort to get and keep a job, some need to work harder at it than others but everybody has the same opportunities. The problem with the "hillside encampment" is that the property owner whomever it is private or public shouldn't have let the camp grow, as soon as it started it needed to be stopped. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 all they got to do is appliy at wal-mart.... they fukin hire anyone! Quote

ClimbAnyHill Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 Not too long ago, they did the same thing in Downtown LA. Quote
LiftdT4R Posted November 25, 2006 Author Report Posted November 25, 2006 Yeah, people sue for anything in this damn state.......................... :shoothead: Yeah, right, it's like a worse version of NJ. If I had squatters on my land I'll tell ya what I'd do, law or no law. Quote
sgt seth Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 all they got to do is appliy at wal-mart.... they fukin hire anyone! heeey....... I worked at Walmart before I got deployed..... :ermm: And yes, I agree. They do hire some freaks and you have to be pretty screwed up to get fired. A jobs an job tho, between that and my one weekend a month an gettin paid to go to school by the Guard, I was making pretty good money. I cant really say much about this, I live in Northern Maine. It is too cold for homeless so I dont really see much of it. But I was doing a convoy through downtown Baghdad one night and saw a guy laying under a tarp and laughed my ass off. Thats all he had, call it insensitive but I just couldn't help but laugh. But I firmly believe that there IS work out there, you just have to get up off your ass and find it. I have worked on farms, had a paper route, done just about everything short of work with the migrant workers in the fields. When I was in high school if I didn't have a job I didn't have toys to play with. Life sucks, they sued and won. This is probably going to start something big in the larger cities, cant do a whole lot about it. Enjoy it people, seeing the 'less fortunate' people rising up. Quote

racer Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 lets go back to the old times, when you had to own shit to have rights. it would be much better for things like this. and if anyone cared enough about how these jobless bums felt they (as long as they own something) could help them out. other than that, get the fuck outta here, last thing we need is someone else bummin the welfare system.
