jbooker82
I didnt know you could anodize steel. Thought it was a process for just aluminum.
kaotik1
Anodize will work on most surfaces, but i think the heat will burn it off quick and leave your pocket empty. Maybe a hightemp paint or powdercoat depending on the color you are looking for.

Mullet Man
Jet-Hot has had major issues with their coating lasting any amount of time. i had a pair of Hooker headers on my Z28 and 4 months into it, they were rusting bad starting at the collectors working its way up the primaries! many others have/had the same issue! i dont think it would hold up very well when it comes to sand/dirt/mud/water. Are they bare metal or are you just cleaning the chrome? I use the industrial brown rouge that most professional polishers use. The stuff from Lowe's is about a joke. Check a few threads down on the polishing tools I use.

I havent had any problems with my header on my raptor. It looks good as new. Your headers on a car would be a different story. Coating gets chipped then the salt from winter roads. I dont really ride my raptor in any mud though. josh
RNBRAD
their chrome. RNBRAD if you could and have the time can you give me a quick run down on your polishing steps please? thanks. matt For chrome that's rusty, spray them down with wd-40 and let them soak for several hours. Hit them with some wd-40 soaked triple o steel wool and rub them down. May have to repeat this process a few times depending on how rusty or dirty the pipes are. As they become clean then you can use the steel wool with some polishing compound like mothers. Once they are clean you can just use mothers and a clean rag. My polishing steps are pretty simple. Some people drag it out and have 6 steps. I have 2, unless I use sand paper, which I never do any more. I sand and smooth with the rol-loc discs on an air die grinder, most jobs just require the fine (green) discs. Use them till the surface is uniformly smooth. Then go straight to the polishing wheel, most use a 6'' cotton wheel on a bench grinder. I use one compound only. Small area's may require some dremmel work with sand paper discs and the polishing cotton wheels for it. It sounds easy but really takes some time for a smooth chrome looking finish. If people would use the right tools, it can cut the time to do the work down considerably. Check out my polishing guide for further indepth information, tons of info for any and everything. I kind of have a back up plan. The coated Sparks exhaust are just mild steel. I spent the extra cash and got a bare stainless steel exhaust system. Then had Jet Hot Coat it. That way if the coating ever did go to crap it wouldnt rust.
