so, today was my 21st b-day  got off work earl to enjoy the day. went home got on the banshee and rode for aobut an hr or so waiting for my buddy to show up so we can ride. no more then he pulls into my driveway on his YFZ, my banshee craps out. i fig no big deal, maybe the rings collapsed the rest of the way ( my comp. was low already), so since i dont have a comp tester, i went ahead and pulled the plugs to look into the cyl and the top of the pistons. i thought everything was good til i pulled the carb and reeds and seen this VVVV (ow it gets better)

so, i said fuck it, lets go ahead pull the motor and put the 88 motor on my frame (he had it and is leting me use it til he is ready to start building up his new project, god damn hes one hell of a friend to have  ) he starts putting my stator anf flywheel on his motor while im doing some looking, i then find this VVVVVV a ring broke loose and trashed my right cyl.

It looks like detonation to me. I know what you said, but detonation usually ends up breaking rings and lands first. So how do you tell what happened first? Old gas in your tank could have easily caused this. Depending on your compression, it could take as little as 2 weeks for the fuel to be deteriorated enough for your application. Just sayin...not putting words in your mouth.

Been there before.........
