wesw
i know couple guys are running a tusk clutch with 6 springs and having good luck. depends on your motor. could run 3 spring and get by. rockymountainatv sells them pretty decent. if they made a 8 disc i would get one. i think rocketboy did some comparsion between the tusk and a streetbike clutch. you could do a search on his name and read up on it. http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...c=53353&hl= Edited November 9, 2006 by wesw
dajogejr
Did Jeff @ FAST make it right with you? That's the important part....we all make mistakes.... His clutch is well worth the second chance. Beat on it all last year with my stock motor, bolt on goods. Been beating the hell out of it with my 4 mil cub motor....still going good.... jbooker82
If he made it right then what is the big deal? Well since your dad wont do business with the best then just go get U a cookie cutter EBC Dirt Digger Clutch Kit.

rocketboy
Fzr1000 fibers are like 6.50$ each then get yourself 6 HD springs ,rough up the steel plates with sandpaper ...then run type F atf ...i think i made my clutch setup for like 60$ and i use it on my drag ported cub frying tire and full throttle shifting on dry pavment with no slippage whatsoever. odaen on here had a 102 rwhp ported 421redline cub and ran only a 30$ tusk clutch with 3stock and 3 stiff springs with no problems or slippage . Bansh-eman
if price isnt and issue then get a full hinson 8 plate setup and run FZR 1000 plates with 3 HD and 3 stock springs... got that setup in mine minus the plates and its great jus costs alot cuz your paying for the hinson name... theres many copmanies that make clutchs just as good as hinson like said your paying for that name... LIM_Whiteboy4life
does it somewhat depend how i shift at all? because i use the clutch shifting but let off the throttle while. i like the 60 buck setup but i want something easy on the hands. is it somewhat close to a harley stiffness? rocketboy
the secret to making these things last and grab is in the 6 heavy duty stiff springs and running type F atf ... but it is harder than a wedding dick to pull in but I only use mine to take off in frist cause i run a modifed drag transmission. if it bothers you ...get an easy pull clutch lever and itll help alot . Denny has it close... The clutch was only $24.99 But I ran 6 HD Toomey springs, not 3 And he inflated my HP substantially. It was only 100.2 I ran that clutch for 1 full season on my 4mm dune ported motor, made quite a few dyno runs on it, then ran it in my 4mm cub setup. I only made 3 trips and a couple of hours of dyno time with the cub, but it held up fine...no slippage. For 95% of the people on HQ, that $24.99 clutch is more than enough. But if you insist on forking over 90+ bucks on a clutch, there are many places to get one. I would probably bet that 90% of builders that concoct their own clutch setups are identical to the infamous FAST clutch, but some of the prices shoot up toward $120. Good luck

LIM_Whiteboy4life
good news my dad is gonna try the F.A.S.T clutch since so many people have luck with them and dont need a lockup, oh and i got strong forearms so i can get used to it, the thumb throttle was a bitch for a week or so, but now i can ride on 3 tanks easy.
