Rippin-it
I have a new 06 banshee with 2 hours on it. I installed a Noss head 18cc, trinity pipes, delts V3's, and a k+n with no lid. I am noticing a slight "knocking" noise out of the right side pipe at low rpms while on the pilot jet. I am at sea level running 310 mains, 4th needle, and 27.5 pilots 1.5 turns out on the air screws. Also using NKG B8EG racing plugs gapped at .031. I was thinking it could either be the plug gap is to wide, or the pilots are to rich. It also has a little stumble on off idle to 1/4 throttle but runs great once it hits the "needle jet" or in the mid and top. Am I on track with this rationale? Rippin-it
Yes, I am running Turbo Blue 115 (even though its 112 octane I believe) with Klotz R-50 @ 40:1. I am still experimenting with the jetting but I figured that the knocking a low rpm, 0-1/4 throttle whether there is load or no load was due to the fuel no getting completely burnt. Is .031 to wide for a plug gap? Also they are not resistor plugs, could this cause it? Or maybe I need to lean the pilot down to a 25? 375hp banshees
18cc's at sea level what's your comp. & reason for going that high!
Rippin-it
18cc's at sea level what's your comp. & reason for going that high! I haven't checked my compression yet but going from the charts listed I should be at 185 psi on a relatively stock bike at sea level. I ride a lot of sandy trails using 3rd 4th and 5th a lot and the extra torque makes the banshee much easier to ride. I don't rev the bike extremely hard so I figured the 18cc domes would be great. My brother also has had his banshee for a few years and is running the same set-up which I rode before mine. I liked the way his bike was so I set mine up the same way. I don't think it could be detonation since I am using 112 octane.... could it?
dlnoss
Look at the plug. See if it's lean or eroded.
