stryker1001
Hey guys well im new to the site and i hope to learn alot. Well i just got a banshee and i took it out to Glamis this weekend. Well i started gettin problems right away. It started to bog down bad about 3 times when i went to go riding. This isnt my first 2 stroke either so i know how to ride one. It would just bog down by itself. The first and second times. It took about 5 minutes to get it started. third time it died and i couldnt get is started again. I checked the plugs. The center electrode was about the size of a hair. So we took out the spatk plugs and changed that. Nothing. Then 2 days later we got it started but it sounded horible. Like a ratling sound. I have a video of it. What do you guys think it is. Heres the link to the video http://media.putfile.com/Banshee-

lowriderb
sounds like somethings broke in the top end.. pull the jugs off and see what is going on.. when you pull them off check to see if the lower rod bearings are intact as well... RIPPEN
YIKES it sounds like its time for a rebuild.. Was it REALLY hot when it started to bog? Sounds to me that the piston is about a stroke away from lockin up.. I agree with lowriderb, in removing the jugs. If you already have the carbs/intakes off look in to see what the pistons look like.. Shits n giggles guess would be it got really hot, ended up breaking piston skirt(JUST A GUESS)... stryker1001
before i got it from the guy, he told me it overheated on his last trip. I took it for a quick spin and it ran fine. I was expectin problems when i got it cuz i got it for so cheap. About 1000, so i was expectin problems.

If you suspect an overheating problem best tackle that or you
BigRed350x
If it got hot enough to cause problems like that, make sure you check your cylinder walls for warping. When they get that hot, the cylinders will try to oval out. Only way to fix it is with a LOT of boring and sometimes a resleeve. Probably toasted a top end and you will def. need a bore if that's the case. Something's not right, and you shouldn't run it any more until you figure out what the problem is and fix it. The more you run it the worse it will get and the more headaches it will cause you later.

CenCalBanshee
It sounds exactly like mine did. I pulled it apart and it broke a piston skirt. the guy i bought it from just slaped some pistons in it and never even bored it out. it ended up costing me a new crank. But at least now I know exactly how new the motor is.

If in fact overheating is what caused/is the problem I would check the drive gear on the water pump.. The little nylon gear or whatever is prone to stripping out.. Personaly with sounds like that (in vid) I would tear it all down and do a good over check of EVERYTHING. When I found my pistons hitting the head on my bike I decided to send the whole motor out to be totaly checked/re-built.. While I was at it I also had some porting and other performance mods done.. Call Jeff @ FAST racing.. Thats who did all my work and supplied parts, great guy.. Hey, this could be a blessing in disguise  RIPPEN
bones
Key sentence listed below: ... I checked the plugs. The center electrode was about the size of a hair. Not good.
Satsol67
Just like everyone said. When mine came apart a few weeks ago thats what it sounded like. The piston skirt came a part. I wouldnt keep running it all that will do is cause more damage. Need to find out why that happened. If it over heated I would check the water pump impeller. As the others said even with whats wrong still well worth 1000 bucks.
