A welded crank is not a bad idea but with what you have it is not a manditory mod. In my case its just a timebomb waiting to go.

ssanddemon
The basic rule is: port it, weld it. Bolt-ons won't usually make enough power to kill a crank although I'm sure it's happened. Keep in mind that warranty is only as good as the company behind it. Many insurers will fight to keep from paying warranty claims and will demand service records and etc. Is the factory giving warranty, or is it a shyster dealership? addicted
im sorry its a 1 year warrenty, and its from the stealer ship Good luck if something with the warranty if something does go. I've experienced hardship with warranty companies. Also you may want to check your paperwork. I have bought a few 2-strokes brand new, they all came with a warranty and I was offered the extended, but neither would cover a 2-stroke motor. Especialy with any mods. But i aggree, with your mods you should have no problem with the strength of your crank.
csrmel
dealer warranty are bs. i had a 6 month warranty on my banshee and i bought it brand new. after 5 hours of riding, i went to change the oil and the drain plug was tighter than a 12 year old back injury. i ended up stripping the drain bolt's 6 sides and also messing up my socket. i took it to the dealer, they wouldnt drill out the plug, or give me a new one. they wants $45/hour labour to drill and tap the hole, and $20 somthing for a new drain plug. they claimed i used an adjustable wrench on it. well how would they know because they were not in my garage with me! i ended up using a pipe wrench on it and i got it out, man it was in there tight. not i got a nedoium plug off ebay for $12 and its got a rubber gasket so i install it just a hair tighter than figer tight. the short story is that dealers suck and look for ways to weasel out of warranty work. BANSHEEPRO
Warranty...what's that? lol. Break it in, disconnect the rev limiter and ride it hard! iv had great luck with non welded stock cranks but welding never hurts them if you ever bump up compression or port the thing concider welding it but until then just enjoy it
moneybags
I just got a brand new 2006 shee with a warrent. They said that the warrenty only covers the parts and not the shop time to fix it. In my case 85 dollers an hour to fix it. You might want to look over your warrenty to see if it is the same. dajogejr
NO to mention, I'd check if it still is under warranty due to the fact you have aftermarket pipes...unless the stealership put 'em on for you. You'll be fine.... I've heard of bone stock motor's popping the crank, but those cases are very, very few and far between. Once you start playing with porting and/or compression, it's probably a real good idea! (And of course, if you're gonna take the crank out, might as well get it ported....and so the sickness begins..lol)
silencethevoice
iv had great luck with non welded stock cranks but welding never hurts them if you ever bump up compression or port the thing concider welding it but until then just enjoy it What usually occurs when a crank decides to give? Does it just spin a bearing and mind it it's own business, or does it do worse, like throw a rod?
dajogejr
All of the above, and sometimes more. Bend rods, spin bearings, separate at the journals. Throw a rod, put a hole in the cases.... It's spinnin from 1000 to 10000 RPMs or higher...it can get messy!!
