Has anyone ever did a dc conversion to run HID? Also, is it worth it. I have 4 trail tech lights on the banshee right now, but i always keep looking back at HIDs, i just wanted to hear some experience from people who have done this conversion. Thanks in advance

Justintoxicated has HID lights on his shee. Im sure he'll chime in here sooner or later and answer any questions you have. As far as brightness, I've seen a couple 4 pokes that had the HID lights on them, and those things were bright as the sun. Regular bulbs simply can't compete. If you ride at night any amount of time Id say go for it.

Yea, it is worth it if you don't mind a little extra weight for the battery. I'd suggest new stator and High Output flywheel if you want to run 4 though (2 is really enough). I didn't float the ground on my stator since I had to get a new one at that point in time anyways (I had Ricky Stator do it for me) It's easy on aftermarket stator, a little more difficult on the stock one.

Yep, HID's are the Shizznizzle buddy. check out this write up and do it yourself. Also use the stock stator. I did this mod with mine and use the stock stator and have had no problems at all.

Or you can buy a new one from Ricky Stator already done.

Depends on what lights you're running. Dual MR16's will not work with the stock stator. Dual MR11's will.

I'm running 2 mr16's on the bars and 2 MR11's on my helmet w/ a 200w stator and Trailtech's big battery. The MR16's are definately worth the extra money to upgrade the stator!

I read the write up and it looks good. I all ready have the 200w stator from ricky stator, hence the 4 trail tech lights i'm running. I guess all i need is the battery, rectifier and regulator, oh and the HIDs. i probably start on that after this season. Thanks for all your help guys.

My Battery took a shit last weekend and I pulled into camp with only 2 of the MR16's on, soon as I stopped to idle one more went out.......

I have killed my battery a few times before so it's probably just shot...I' thinking about upgrading to one of these. It's still tiny and fairly light but is a much better battery both deep cycle and high output...

other options will add at least 12 lbs to the bike...

I can't decide. I have some pics I will post them in the other thread if I find some time, maybe get some better pictures this weekend.

Wow dune review used the Osram IR bulbs I was talking about for the longest time. Haha!

Well I killed the battery several times when I first got the HID's and was trying to get my LED's workign with them. May have damaged the battery, maybe not. I replaced it with a fresh one and took some pics (they are at home) to give you some ideas. I'm probably going to change to a more powerful battery.
