Hello all .... im new to the forum, and really glad that i found this place. 1st off its been about 10 years since i rode a banshee on a regular basis. my friend has a 06 700 raptor and he says that it will eat a banshee alive. so my question is what do i need to do to make it beat the crap out of that 4 stroke for under 1500 dollars? thanks

All stock

i was thinkin toomey pipes, jet kit 34mm carbs

34mm carbs will be too big, more than likely. Get the pipes, K&N air filter or pods, porting, and some 28mm, or 30mm carbs, and some reeds. If you have any money left, get a timing plate and advance it +4. Once you do, hang on, and kick some a$$.

I rode my buddies 700 raptor a couple of months ago, what a joke. Mild 450's were smoking that bike easily, it was a real bummer to race on. It was nice and easy to wheelie, tho. Just felt like it was dragging a sand anchor in the drags and hillclimbs. What a relief to jump back on the shee after that thing, I felt like a real puss on it.

I'm new myself, just picked up my first banshee while being deployed to Iraq, got it off of an eBay transaction. I have never sat on the bike, but have seen pictures and it is due at my brothers doorstep any day now. So I know most of the stuff listed, having ridden fourwheelers for some time now, but what exactly is haullers and what sprockets are best? I am going to mainly be riding normal trails an such. Just giving it hell. Possibly some snow, living in Northern Maine never quite know whats going to happen. So yeah thanks

skat track makes haullers, and haullers are for dune riding, the straight paddle hauller is very good for sand drags, going up hill, and such.for teails not sure if would benefit from changing your sproket.by the way are you in iraq now?proud to be american.

race cut the front fenders!

will help on the top end speed (less drag). dont worry about getting dirtier, there isnt much of a difference

$1500 could have a stock shee moving pretty damn good!!

i'd do what Ellison said. call up Jeff at F.A.S.T (search here) hes suppose to know what hes doing.

btw, nice '03. i remember when mine looked like that

So yeah, that wont work for me. I was looking at the 4MM strokers, but I'm not sure I want to put that much power in it right away. Its been a few years since I've ridden a banshee.

Sprockets wont do much then I'll keep that in the back of my head.

Hmm, what mods would you suggest since I already have exhaust... I was thinking about possibly extending the swing arm 4 inches, and I dunno what else.

Probably should make my own thread and quit stealin someone elses.

And yeah I am in B-town right now. Gotta love Iraq.

hey Seth, stay safe "over there"

find some used stock cylinders, send them off for porting (best bang for the buck). maybe some 30mm carbs or a 35/38 single conversion, adjustable timing plate, new HD clutch kit (will be needed), pick up a Noss or Pro Design cool head with 21 or 22cc domes. a +4 swinger would help out after porting.

Last post in someone else's topic I swear. LOL Look for my new one

With the new domes, will it be needed to run a higher octane fuel? I was lookin at the 17cc domes and not really thinkin that it would be worth it. Timing plate is a must from everything I've been reading.

Porting, how hard would that be to do in a machine/fab shop? My father and I have worked on shit like this, dont know if he is capable of doing a porting. Why get new cyl 's to do it? Dont understand that one. Are replacement cyl's that expensive anyway? Have looked at alot of stuff on eBay for sure

and yeah, I dont ride in tanks, I ride in normal humvees doing my crap but we work with the tanks sometimes. :D

reason i say find some used replacements to send off is so you have little or less down time. then just sell your cylinders too recoupe the cost of the ones you purchased.

porting IMO should be left to the pros. not saying you cant do it but to eek every bit of power for your dollar spent, it is best to have a pro do them. plus, they will be more consistent across the board.

domes, will depend on what elevation you are at and what kind of fuel you are willing too run all the time. the higher octane fuel you want to run, the more compression you can run (vice versa)

my cousin SGT. Jeff Thorne Army Res. was in Iraq for 18 months. was on alot of convoys in humvees and all that. told some wicked stories. glad he is back OK, wild west over there
