Meat
Hello everyone. Just wanted to tell yas about my latest adventure in ATV racing. Maxxis tires and ATVScene.com runs an ATV cross country endurance series named the "6 Hour Of ATV America". The races are six hours long and three man teams race one quad on a cross country\GNCC style track that usually has a MX track thrown in for good measure. The series has 5 rounds and the events are held all across the USA, not just the east coast. For '06 they raced in Indiana, Wisconsin, New Hampshire, Ohio and Missouri. And now that the 6-hour races are over for year its time for big grand daddy of em all. The 12-hour race. Iowa is where all this madness started. Around 10 years ago, the 12 hour race was the American answer to the French Pont Du Vaux endurance race. A La Mans style start and 12 hours of ATV punishment. Until last years 12 hour race, they were all held in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Last year they decided to move the location of the 12 hour races to a different venue every year. Last years race was held 15 miles from my front door at Rausch Creek in Tremont Pennsylvania. My team raced the "12 hour" last year and we finished 2nd in the Utility Expert class, behind multiple 12 hour champs "FD Racing" from Fort Dodge. This year the big race is being held in Greenville Texas and the race is always held on Halloween weekend, this year the race is held on Saturday October 28th. Well.... i'm goin to Texas to pit for my team. We have a 5 man team, three racers and two pit guys. We race the Utility Expert class and have a brand new '06 Suzuki 700 KingQuad to race. Our 5 man team has been together for 3 years of endurance racing. We won our class in the '04 Rausch Creek 6 hour race, DNF'ed in the mudfest of the '05 Rausch Creek 6 hour race, placed 2nd in our class in the 12 hour race and we recently won 1st place at this years 6 hour race in New Hampshire back in August. We're leaving Pennsylvania on Wednesday the 25th of October in a 40 foot Bluebird motorhome pulling a big ol' race trailer. Figure on 24 to 30 hours of driving to get to Texas. We'll be going through Maryland, Tennesee, Arkansas etc etc... The competition in the Utility Expert class is going to be very tough to beat this year. Mike Penland and Scott Kilby are teaming up on the factory Can-Am team. Jim Stack and Brock Parker have a Ute team and they're both great racers. Brock was a Kawasaki factory GNCC racer and still races all the GNCC's, just not factory supported anymore. Darryl Rath from Rath Racing with be racing with his Artic Cat factory backed machine. Rath is known for racing TT events but the past year he's been racing the Ute's in the WPSA series that airs in ESPN2. Rath is good, he's in second place in the WPSA series behind William Yokley. Yokley races a Suzuki King Quad in the WPSA series. FD Racing, multi-time ute champs from Fort Dodge will be there with thier team, last year they raced a big bore Kawasaki Praire and whooped our asses. Our team is TPC Powercenter. Our main sponsors are Suzuki and TPC Powercenter from Bloomsburg Pa. We'll be racing a brand new black 700 KingQuad. We also have a full sponsorship from Elka, they gave us 4 brand new shocks for the race, we'll have Elkas on all four corners. Sponsored by LRD Racing, we'll be running their exhaust system. Sponsorship from PowerCommander, we can load custom fuel injection maps to the Power Commander module with a laptop computer. Sponsorship from Dalton Clutch Components. Sponsorship from ATVScene, Maxxis and Moose. My cousin writes for ATVScene.com, Maxxis is hooking us up with all the tires we'll need and Moose gave our three riders a full set of gear, including new matching helmets. Another cool sponsor we have is Cyclops, they make a great little lighting system that mounts to the top of the riders helmets and is run off the quads electrical system. We'll have about 4 or 5 hours of racing after the sun sets, the race is over at 11pm so we'll need lights and we got em... this year we're running HID !! Night Rider brand HID lights. We'll also be running Tire Balls in all our tires. My good buddy Eric will be the man who brings the live race video feed to ya. Go to ATVScene.com on October 28th to watch the live feed from Greenville. I'll promise ya i'll be on the live feed. The had the live feed cameras on one of our pit stops last year and we looked like a Nascar pit  !! He's planning to have camera's all along the trackside, a roving announcer(Banger !!) and a coupla helmet cams. Last year they had a helmet cam on Chris Borich. <--- You gotta see this boy race. So all you Texans, I hope you'll come out for the day and watch the race and introduce yourself. I ran into JK+JK and Banchetta at the August New Hampshire race, I hope to meet atleast one western BHQ member while I'm in Texas. Get off yer ass's and take a roadtrip to Greenville Texas, the fun starts on Friday, they're holding a big Texas barbeque and they're going to race yamaha Rhino around on Friday too. Should be fun. We can use all the support we can get, so make sure you log onto the live feed at ATVScene and root for TPC Powercenter. Meat
Denny that sounds like a great time.Good luck to you+your crew+have a safe trip. John I didnt forget about the video footage I took of you and your brother at the 6hr race hillclimb. Here's the deal..... do you remember the video camera I had ?? The camera burned video right onto a small DVD. Well that's where my problem lies..... the video of you guys racing up the hill is on the end of a DVD..... its at the end of the 6hr race footage. So my plans were to come home & pop the little DVD disc into my computer, fire up my video editing program and cut your clips out..... and post em on the Bansheezone for you guys to download. Bitch is... the file format for DVD's is MPEG4... and my video editing programs, Nero and Windows Movie Maker don't handle MPEG4 video files. So I can't cut out your clips. And I can't post the whole DVD video cause its like 1.4 GB big. So I don't know what to do  . Maybe someone here will read this and hook me up with info on editing MPEG4 video files. John its the same 5 man crew going to Texas that was racing in NH in August. We're takin' that big ol' Bluebird motorhome too..... I hope the beast can get us there. Its definitly not the most reliable motorhome on the road. We were delayed 5 hours on the New Hampshire trip because it busted a power steering line. Luckily the line broke close to home and we got her fixed, but damn we can't be breakin' shit halfway to Texas. Its going to be quite the adventure on the trip to Texas.....
