okbeast
I'm running the t-5's with dual K&N's and my mains are drilled a little less then a 320, so I would say a 280 would be a good starting point for you. Always do a plug chop to make sure tho.
csrmel
try stock polots, needle in the middle and 280 mains. the plug chop might look rich because of the airbox, if it does then try some 260 or 270 mains.

Agree 100%....good advice. That thing has gotta be a dog out of the hole with a stock motor and a 16t front sprocket...though... I'm assuming you're looking for top speed on a 1/4 mile or long ass dirt road with that type of gearing....

dajogejr
If you can put that in English so I can read it....we can help... Porting is where your power is, prices vary. Might as well wait until the top end needs to be replaced to get it ported. This is a plug chop: http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/plugchop.html And, it's used to check the main jetting. GEKO
Ok Thanks for the how to on Plugging... So In english so that you can understand what would you recommend as my next step to increase performance on my banshee and what tips may you have on cutting the fenders so that i dont end up messing them all up like a dumbass... Would i feel an icrease in power by adding Vforce3 ?
dajogejr
Ok Thanks for the how to on Plugging... So In english so that you can understand what would you recommend as my next step to increase performance on my banshee and what tips may you have on cutting the fenders so that i dont end up messing them all up like a dumbass... Would i feel an icrease in power by adding Vforce3 ? Now we're talkin... I'm the wrong person to ask about cutting plastic, mine look like hell...so, new plastic next year. I used a cut off tool, hacksaw then some scotch brite/sandpaper on mine. It looks like I was loaded when I did it. If I drove or walked that crooked, I'd be in jail...lol. I think VForce reeds are too expensive of a mod on stock porting, to be 100% honest. Once you pay for porting, then they're nice icing on the cake. Two very cheap and noticeable mods are a timing plate and a shaved flywheel. You can get your flywheel shaved and a timing plate both for around $100 bucks, give or take. Easy to do both, and...since the flywheel has to come off to get cut, you're already exposing the Stator and Stator plate. Just three screws from there. One you do that, you're pretty much at the limit of bolt on mods, short of getting a NOSS head with smaller domes or cutting your stock head. Do you have a problem running race gas, or do you want to still run pump gas? Pump gas, get 21cc domes and advance the timing +4. Race gas, get 19cc domes and +4 on the timing. Now you're to your next dilemma.... Stock cranks have been known to separate, once you start putting more pressure on them (compression and timing) it's a good idea to have the stock crank welded. That's a complete tear down and reassembly of a motor, though. Your next mods, other than the cheap ones I listed is probably a good port job, and prices vary.... This man can hook you up with every thing you need, from mild to wild, and his prices and services are hard to beat. http://www.farmandsandtoys.com Jeff is a good guy. Toomey Banshee
next few mods should look something like this; 1. Better rear tires, for the terrain you're rididng/racing in. (I think you'll notice the most performance increase with better tires than the below listed mods) 2. Cool head with 20cc domes (if you want to mix race with super, 50/50 mix) if not 21cc domes 3. lightned fly wheel 4. adjustable timing plate. This should set you up till you do a port job, bigger carbs, longer swinger and the list goes on.
GEKO
Ok well im setting off to go buy the jets todai, What should i tell the guy im looking for 280 main jets ? or kit or something ? lol and would you recommend that i install them myself, im sure its no hassle i have taken a part my frnds carb before.... dajogejr
Jet Kits are a waste of money....they're 3 to 4 bucks a piece. Tell them you need a pair 280 main jets, then check your plugs.
GEKO
Ok sounds like a plan, Do i need to ask for anything else like the needles or pilots, and what does a jet kit usually bring... by the way thnaks you've been a life saver lol... one other thing is what brand jets should i go with, dyno jets? Edited October 23, 2006 by GEKO
dajogejr
Just use the run of the mill Mikuni Hex head jets (mains are all you need)... I know dynojet makes a needle for these carbs, but they repackage Mikuni jets for the mains (far as I know they don't make mains for them...might be wrong.) Dynojet's needls for stock carbs are way overpriced, even in the Toomey "perfect jet" kit.... The good thing is since you dragrace down an air strip, that couldn't be a more perfect place to do a plug chop!!!! Plenty of room to run out the gears...lucky dog you!! I think jet "kits" are a waste of money, to be honest. They're generic in packaging, and every bike is different as are the rider as are the riding area/locale.... You're better off buying jet by jet to suit your needs... sudco.com, carbparts.com and magicracing.com all have the jets you'll need online if you don't wanna make a trip...
