the compression chart is showing 156 psi at sea level, you should be alright with the 98 octaine but I would mix it like 1 gallon race gas to 4 gallons pump gas just to be safe. your gonna love the new found power from the head. pending on what porting you get you should be fine with the domes you have now, but the best part is you can change the domes out for like 65 bucks if need be later. I personaly ran 19cc domes in my play bike and 18cc domes in my alky drag bike. but I love the smell of race gas

Don't you mean 93 octane? If you can get 98 you can run 19cc dome no prob. If if is just 93 octane you should be ok with 21 domes. But 20cc are better and 19 is even better. Just run some Trick (114 octane) with the 93. Like one gallon to four 93 and you will be OK.

Why does everyone seem to worry so much about using high octane? I use 18cc domes and I'm like 1,000 feet above sea (I think). I had like 155 PSI or so when I tested it. I only use 93 octane and my banshee runs great. Never any pinging or anything out of the ordinary.

I would think that if you ran 18cc domes your compression would be higher than that, but that is cool that you get away with 93 octane

When you smoke a motor to save money for octane, you'll understand why.

18cc domes on a motor that is in good shape, with a compression tester is accurate, wil yield you about 170 to 180PSI....you'd need race gas, period.

That's really low on stock ported cylinders at that elevation.

pokeatyou2, is the 98 octane you are using rated using the (R+M)/2 method? Thats what it is in the U.S. It will usually show the method right next to the octane rating right on the pump most of the time. If that is the case then you should run 19cc domes. 18cc domes would be pushing it.

not sure on the method i will check next time i fill up

we have 3 octane levels available at the pump here in australia 92 95 and 98

thats why i use the 98 because i thought it would be the best for it, when i fill up my car i only use 92. because there is a big price difference.
