Sounds like a lean conditions that's being caused by an air leak, low float level, miss-adjusted air fuel screws or partially pluged pilots. How many turns out on the air fuel screws? How many turns out on the air fuel screws? Does not back fire. (it did when we first started having this problem, but it doesn't now) Screws are set to factory. (One is 3.5 out and the other is 1.5 out).Intake clamps have been checked and tightened. The pilots are, whatever comes with the LTE pipe kit (Note: we had this problem even before the pipe was installed). Floats have been adjusted and checked. We have been through the carbs many times and we are wondering if it could be associated to the valves???, or some thing else. We agree that it seems to be an air leak of some kind, maybe. Are these carbs very sensitive or what? We want to eliminate other possibilities before purchasing new carbs, as the brilliant factory technicians suggest... holeshotkid Posted October 1, 2006 Report Share Posted October 1, 2006 Set the mixture screws at 3.5 L and 3 turns R. 1.5 is just too lean. I cant see the valves being that far off but it doesn't take that long to double check the settings. When you have it running, spray carb cleaner around the intake boots. One might have a slight crack causing a vaccum leak and the cleaner will cause it to slow down/stall if there is. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

akita8 Posted October 3, 2006 Report Share Posted October 3, 2006 (edited) Many a raptor has blown the intake boot. You might want to start it and spray some carb cleaner around the intake boots to see if there is a crack.
