vitovito240
i noticed that on of my pipes is much closer to the upper frame rail than the other pipe. on the left side there is about an inch space between the pipe and the rail but on the right side its almost touching. its more like a quarter inch off and it has some play. i tightened everything up but its still right there w play. can some one look at there bike and tell me what the distance is suppose to be, possible take a pic. also how can i adjust this? i dont know maybe the banshee frame isnt really all that exact from the left to right side. thanks
dajogejr
Your pipes are prolly gonna wiggle a little, they're held on by springs and rubber pipe hangers... As long as they're not touching the frame, I wouldn't worry too much. If it concerns you that much, you can always get a few washers and shim it out a tad. When it's close to or rubbing wires, hoses or my air filters, that's when I worry.... Just about everyone I know that had Shearer pipes has to shim the left pipe so it doesn't rub the head...I think 3 washers did the trick on mine... vitovito240
thanks for the reply, there are two things im still worried about 1.) why is there a bigger space between the pipe and frame on the left side than on the right? or is this normal? 2) also the pipe that is on the right that has only 1/4" space between the pipe and frame rail and it does wiggle alittle,. im worried its so close to the frame that when im rideing it will wiggle and continually bash itself into the frame rail and adventually dent the pipe? dajogejr
1. Pipes are made on a jig. Your (our) bike was mass produced...not way to be 100% certain it will fit 100% perfectly on all bikes. Although the bikes on paper have the same frame...they can be off a few % here or there... Think about it...you're stuffing a HUGE beer keg of a pipe under a tank and next to a frame rail that was never desinged from the factory to be that way. There's an easy fix...get a solid mount pipe hanger and shim it a bit. 2. I doubt from every day riding it's going to dent that pipe. Now...fall of it, hit a tree...well, you get the picture... Those Rockets are made of some pretty thick metal...it should be fine.
trex banshee
Both mine and my brothers rockets are even on both sides. Are you sure that you don't have one pipe mounted on the inside of the bracket and the other pipe is mounted on the outside of the bracket? Yamashee1
Hey Vitovito mine are like that too. Im thinking that you might have to clock the left silencer. but im not going to worry about it on mine cause you cant see it and it doesn't hurt performance.

Yamashee1
yamahashee1 thanks for the reply. what do you mean clock it? thanks Pull the 4 screws out of the silencer and turn it making the stinger have to turn up a little more. if that don't work then I wouldn't Worry about it. not hurting anything.
rocketboy
mine didnt fit all that good either ,one diameter tube was bigger than another by .050 and it hit on the one side really bad till i jerry rigged it
Ducman
vitovito240 My rockets are similar to how you described. I split a radiator hose and used a hose clamp to keep it in place around the stinger so it wouldn't bang into the frame or put heat into the frame on the right side. On the left side I did the same and used a few heavy duty zip ties to help pull the singers towards the frame and also to insulate the stinger so it wouldn't melt any more holes in my K&N pod filter outerwear. Fireman-hott
I know the first set I got from Tom was like that. When I was making them I had to drop some weld on the jigs because cutting the pieces to length slowly wore it down. So depending on what spectrum of the production there is a chance they are hundreths of an inch off on that sides jig but not on the opposite sides jig when can result in a noticable difference. The ones on Trex and his brothers shees were done on the jig after adding weld to makeup the lost difference. I know that from the timeframe of events. You shouldn't have a problem with them dinging as long as everything is tight. The stock hangers have that ribber washer to absorb movement, so if its a problem or worries you swap to a rigid hanger as someone else mentioned. b33rs
I took the bike down to a shop and had them make me bracket to fit each side for the rockets, then color match them to the frame
