Gears & Crosses
My Banshee is totally stock and will not be changing too much due to limited funds. The most I can see me doing in mods for the rest of this year is a filter change, air box mod, and timing advance? I just forked out some bucks on some new front shocks so I'm tight. Anyway, I weigh 200 lbs., I have stock tires, and I ride some trails and some open field riding. I feel that first gear is way too tall for the type of riding I am doing. I'm real happy with the top end however. After searching here I see most people change the front spockets? Is this best for me and which tooth sprocket, brand should I buy? I have gotten a lot of good advice here, so thanks in advance Gears Edited September 30, 2006 by Gears & Crosses
chase@miamiatv.com
the smaller you go in the front is going to make your shee take off faster, and overall have a slower top end ..... If you ride alot of trails that might be good. My trail bike runs 15.41 and i love it ( shes ported )

Or instead of doing gears but will co$t a little more and loose some ground clearance would be to run 18 inch tires in the rear. Any of these mods are gonna give you more acceleration but less top speed, but either should be what your looking for.

Gears & Crosses
Thanks for the replies Chase and NY350twin, So 14T is stock and a 13T is the way to go. No problem. As an alternative, when you guys are mentioning an 18" tire are you talking about using the factory rims? This may work for me also if we are just talking about paying for tires. I'm also trying to make the Banshee easier for my wife to ride as she stalls it out or boggs it a lot. You know it pays to have your wife on your side when it comes time to spend money on your bike. I'm just glad she's not to prim and proper to go ride it! Thanks again for sharing the wisdom, Gears

You will be happy with the 13T
locogato11283
yea 13 tooth up front or a 44 tooth in rear will get you about the same results...
