Kickinig it over

Recommended Posts

I have been building my banshee for a while now and today i finally got it to kick over and started up. But it takes a good amount of kicks to get it over. Is there anything I can do to helf this problem such as tuning the carbs or anything like that and if so please give me some instruction on how to go about doing so. Any help will be great

hard to say unless you can give us some ideas on what could be casueing it... poor or no spark ignition... fuel carbs could be clogged... new plugs? if not are the old ones fouled?

list goes on give us some ideas to work with and we could be more useful.

You can sheck the spark no matter type of throttle you are runnin'. Take both plugs out and put them close to any bare metal and see if spark jumps the gap. With both plugs out you should be able to crank it over with your hand. If there is no spark are the plugs gapped right, but if there is no spark it may be your new ignition............

They're right though we need more details about what you did, and what you have tried, and what happened when you did try or changed anything.

Are the carbs stock, because if any carbs are adjusted wrong or not put together correctly will cause problems. Did you check the compression, because if it goes below 100, you will have a hell of a time getting it to run. Not impossible just really hard..........stock should be around 130-135 psi by the way.............

What do banshee plugs need to be gapped at? how do I check the compression. the only mods I have are I have a kandn airfilter with outerwears a pro design ez flow adapter and outwears airbox cover and a high rev cdi box. I started her up today and noticed there is black oil coming from the back of the right pipe

I am almost sure the problem is your CDI box... try putting the original back on, it will start right away. Where did you buy your CDI from? ir you spent $100 it probably is a pice of $%^&

When you are doing mods to your bike, try doing one mod at a time, that way you will notice the power increment every mode has on your bike, and on a case like this you will be able to tell which mod is the problem

You are not burning any gas, the mixture gets all the way thru to the silencer, by that point the gas evaporates and the mixture is only oil....

Belive me I already had the same problem and that is..... a really crapy CDI box

Solition:

Plug your stock CDI box, return the "Rev Box", get your money back, save more money, buy the LS Dyna CDI box, rejet your carbs (6 sizes larger give or take)

What does the oil coming out of one pipe mean? is that caused by the cdi as well?

You were good to go until right there. 1 to 2 main sizes maybe...and that's a big maybe...

And with their stockish banshee, I think a Dyna woule be a total waste of money, I'd spend it on a timing plate and other mods.

I fully agree...the 100 dollar "rev boxes" are junk....CDIs don't have a rev limiter on 2 strokes.

The intake, exhaust and porting decide how much an engine can rev....

It was the cdi. I bought a new rev box before you guys said anything to me about them being a piece. but im gonna sell them. and buy a dyna cdi. eventually I will be doing mods to my bike so I figure i might as well just pick it up now that i have the money. but I want to thank you guys for helping me getting this thing going. its starting up on the first and second kick everytime now. thanks guys

Honestly, before I bought a dyna, I'd buy a Nology Coil and Hotwires....then save the rest of that for other mods.

Timing plate, shaved head, lightened flywheel....

I like my Dyna, don't get me wrong. However, unless you have the time/money and resources to program it...you can spend better money elsewhere!!
