t6 jetting

I am running a similar setup.....did you get the Toomey needles that came with your T-6 pipes....if so you need to be running those needles with the clip on the 2nd from the blunt end.....also how far out is your air screw.....i would recommend starting at 1.5 turns out......with that 310 main and the clip right it should be crisp throughout.......let us know how it responds...

Do you have an airbox? Do you have the lid on?

 

Put the needle back in the middle clip if you have stock needles (5 clips) or in the 4th clip from the blunt end going down (if you bought the Toomey/Dynojet needles, 6 clips)...

 

1/4 to 1/2 throttle is all needle....

With the lid on your main is rich, gaurenteed. That will not fix your 1/4 to 1/2 throttle dilemma...

You have toomey needles.

 

easyrider has it backwards...you want the clip on the 3rd from the pointed end....or the 4th position down (from the blunt end.)....

 

You're too rich...need to lean it up a bit.

So if i leave the lid off it should be ok . Im runninbg at se level too with with temps around 25 to 35 degres Cheers Ian

Oh...nope. That'd be a problem...

The lid seals the air filter to the air box....wihtout it, it just kinda sits in there.

You have a few choices.

 

Some people cut out the back 2/3 of the lid, opening it up...but leaving the front for sealing purposes.

 

Some people buy a pro-flow kit, which is an aluminium adapter that bolts to the front the airbox, which, the filter then clamps to and seals to.

 

If I just told you to remove the air lid and your jetting would be fine....I'd be doing you a disservice.

 

In General terms....if it's too rich....yes, removing the lid could help...but, it's too general of a statement.

 

Even if you remove the lid, you still need to jet it properly and read your plugs is what it boils down to.

I got my bike jetted by a motor bike mechanic and he made it a slight rich he said for the hot weather we had in summer now it a bit cooler should i go down a size and another thing were is the pilot jet located so i can see what size it is. Thanks for your help too man

Stock pilots will be fine, year round on that setup. You'll probably have to adjust the air screws as the temps get colder, then warmer.

 

HOwever....you need to do two things.

 

One, get a clymers manual. The how/where/how again is covered...in details and photos.

 

Two...a plug chop is best. This describes how to do that:

I was running main jet 280;s and pilots 27.5 stock is 25.

 

Mine worked awesome.. also had the toomey needles , but that doesn;t sound like the problem here to me..

 

 

He's bogging from 1/4 to 1/2 throttle...that's all needle...just off the pilot, and a ways from getting to the main.

 

With the air box still on, he's fine with stock pilots...especially on Toomey's...
