banshee0509
Hi im new to this site and ive been finding alot of good info. I want to try and port my own engine and I think you guys could help me out. Does anybody know what transfer angles verticle and horizontal I could use for a good drag port. Ill be trying this on a stock engine with no mods only t5s on it. maybey later ill get vforce 3. Any info greatly appreciated. I been reading other sites someone said good power comes from all the transfers opening at the same time is this true, or will this make it to peaky only top end power. Thanks again
boonman
The information you are asking for is "trick of the trade" secrets from the builders. Everyone has their own opinion on what works best, and what doesn't work. I doubt you will get much response. If you have the guts to go ahead and give it a whirl, do what you think is best. But be absolutely sure of what you are doing. IMHO, if you have to ask, you likely shouldn't be doing the porting. Don't take this the wrong way, I don't build motors for others. Just stating what you will most likely not find.....
jbooker82
There is a company that makes templates that you can use. If i was going to try it my self i would deffinatly get those. There is no way i would just try porting my cylinders with out some kind of resources. I cant remember the name of the company that makes them though. Maybe some body here will speak up. 2003LimitedBanshee
The templates come from RaceLogic; but they don't address the transfers with much (if any really) detail. If you want to get more info on porting you should check out Planet Sand. I posted a thread a while back over there, and got some real good info. Although I love his flywheel , I have to disagree with Boonman. Everyone starts somewhere, and one of the best ways to get started is to ask questions. The couple porters that hang around here haven't really released their opinions on the ideal mix, and that is by all means their right. Planet Sand Porting Thread Also, you will need a right angle porting tool to get into the transfers properly. The tool I bought from CC Specialties ran me $335 without any burrs, wheels etc. Not to knock the guys around here (many that frequent build some killer motors), but Planet Sand seems to have more technical, precise discussion available.
